No need to drill your banister to install a safety gate — not with our clever gate installation kit! It lashes securely to banister posts, so you can install virtually any style gate. Taller and sturdier than others we tested; it features thick Velcro® straps, not flimsy plastic ties. Easier to install, too, with fewer pieces. Buy one for each post. Imported. Gate not included.

great idea, wood tone would be better
    Sep 1 2008
    Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight, Strong Construction, Sturdy
    Best Uses:
    Stairs, Toddlers
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

it's a great concept, I did not want to drill into my banister, however I spent extra on the wood grain furniture gate and it looks silly with a white adapter. I do plan on returning this product but only because of the color. I did end up drilling into my banister so that the white would not stand out so much.

I wish we would have seen this when we installed our gate at the top of the stairs. No need for drilling.

This was a great option that I'm so glad I stumbled upon while browsing through the catalog. I have always wanted a gate at the top of our stairs to prevent my fearless 1 year old from falling. My husband did not want to drill into our banisters so the second I found this product I ordered it, and it is a lifesaver.

    Versatile Product
    Aug 25 2008
    Pros:
    Easy To Use, Lightweight
    Cons:
    Lack of instructions
    Best Uses:
    Crawlers, Infants, Stairs
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I am pleased with the performance and versatility of this product. In our particular situation, the banister post on the bottom of the stairs was not perfectly parallel with the adjacent wall to install a safety gate on the bottom of the stairs. Therefore, we utilized the adapter to install a pressure fit gate from the bottom of the banister to the wall across from the stairs to deter our little guy from accessing the stairway. So far, it has held up nicely. There wasn't any instructions included in the box for how to install two black plastic latches, so this should be rectified though.

    Seems to do the trick
    Aug 21 2008
    Best Uses:
    Crawlers, Stairs, Toddlers
    Bottom Line:

Our steps are both newell posts (no walls). This was a great fix for us since we did not want to drill into the walls. My only worry is whether using a pressure mounted gate on the posts is going to hold up or whether it will weaken our newell posts with time. Time will tell, I guess. I also wish the clips were white since the rest of the adapters are white (and I was using with a white gate). There were a few imperfections on the wood, but we just turned that to the inside. Overall, I would purchase again.

Velcro straps long for metal banister
    Aug 20 2008
    Pros:
Easy To Use, Strong Construction, Sturdy
    Best Uses:
    Stairs
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We used this on our metal banister that is only about 1.5 inches around and the velcro straps were way to long. We attached it with tie straps (zip ties) and it worked great.

It works! Take it anywhere as well!
    Aug 7 2008

    Easy To Use, Sturdy
    Best Uses:
    Crawlers, Infants, Stairs
    Bottom Line:

It does what it says. I have this at the top of the stairs with a mounted gate and one at the bottom of the stairs with a pressure mounted gate and it works great with both. Easy to install (about a min. per side) and the banister is not hurt in any way in doing so...it would also be great if you had to move (or go to grandmas) because the gate at the top of the stairs is drilled into the adaptor and you could just take it anywhere with you and just adjust as needed for width. NICE, just thought of that!

The handrail on my banisters were not wide enough to install the baby gate hardware so I bought these. Yes, it's a very simple design and you can make them yourself if you have power tools, but for those that just want the gates up these are perfect. They are very quick to Velcro onto the railing and hold tightly. I did have zip ties (per another reviewer's recommendation) but didn't need them. I was concerned that they weren't too sturdy since you can't get a dry wall anchor into them, but we've put over 200lbs of weight on them and they hold tightly. I bought and successfully used 2 of these (top and bottom stair) with the KidCo SafeWay Gate.

The Velcro straps were not included in the box. These are necessary in order to attach the adapter to the stair post and they were supposed to be included. [...]
