Great product for the price. Used it to upgrade the sound on a Sony XBR 4 LCD 32 inch TV (1 year old) Sound system on the TV detracted from the video experience. Took a while to make up my mind, but for the price, you cannot beat it! I am glad I finally made the move to this system. Read more

I purchased this to give us more sound in a very large room where it is nearly impossible to run a traditional surround sound system's cables in a hidden manner. The room is nearly 600 sq feet and has a vaulted ceiling. Setup and configuration was easy after reading the manual.

The sub-speaker is only on the right side and I noticed that if the sub-woofer was placed near an object that obstructed the speaker, then the sound wasn't as good. After moving the sub-woofer to another location, the sound improved so I recommend placing the sub where you don't obstruct the speaker on the right side.

The speaker "bar" comes with a 10' cable that has a DB-9 end. It was easy to extend the cable by using a good quality male to female DB-9 computer serial cable. You want to use a cable that has good large conductors (the wires in the cable) so that there's no loss. I had a 6-foot cable laying around that worked well. Basically, if you buy a cable that is equally as round as the Sony cable, you sh

This is for us folks who simply want high quality sound to compliment an LCD or Plasma TV without the hassle of setting up a 5-7 speaker system. You have what you see in the illustration. A subwoofer (housing the amplifier) , and a slender "soundbar". I was attracted to the simplicity of the "soundbar HT-CT 100 as well as the price. It's $200 less than the Bose Cinemate, which is the closest to this type of system. It literally took seconds to set this up via HDMI, and I was blown away by the audio quality. I replayed a movie I previously watched (on a new Sony Blue Ray purchased at the same time as the TV) and went from watching a movie to experiencing it. I really wasn't anticipating much for the money, but it far exceeded expectations. If you want simplicity, this is it. Read more

I tried several 2.1 speaker systems to enhance the sound from our LCD HDTV. The 2.1 speaker systems used the RCA audio output from the TV but I was never satisfied with the quality of the sound, even from the Bose Companion system. I think part of the problem is with the low-level output of the TV's RCA audio connection and for this reason I decided to look for a speaker system that could take advantage of my HDTV's digital optical audio output connection. I also didn't want to have a five-speaker system all around the room and so I focused my search on soundbar-type systems. The Sony HT-CT100, just recently introduced, fit the bill perfectly and comes at a price much lower than the Yamaha and Philips soundbar systems with optical inputs.

The Sony HT-CT100 produces great sound. The speaker bar is very low profile and takes up very little space whether you sit it in front of the TV or hang it on the wall. The subwoofer is large (about the size of a desktop PC) and sits on the floor. Th

I own 2 Sony A/V receivers 5.1 surround sound. In our family room I couldn't easily run wires thru the walls and my wife does not like to see the wires. In other rooms we have rear speakers. We spend more time in the family room and love the sound. This unit is just two pieces of equipment (space saver, not many wires) and for the money it sounds great. This system is hooked up to our KDL 46Z4100 46" LCD Bravia Sony HDTV with a PS3 and a Wii game. Thank you Sony, again. Read more
