I previously used a Braun 8595 Activator shaver, which when I purchased it, was Braun's top of the line shaver. I recently purchased the Series 7 790cc shaver to replace it, which is currently Braun's top of the line shaver. While I still contend that Braun makes the best electric shavers on the planet, I was hoping that this "latest & greatest" version would be just that. Unfortunately, it wasn't. In comparing the Series 7 790cc to my previous 8595 shaver, I feel that Braun cheapened-up on a number of the earlier attributes. While the new shaver is lighter, more ergonomic, and much quieter, the 8595's one slide switch activation for turning on the shaver, locking the head, and extending/activating the trimmer is now relegated to three separate switches or buttons, which isn't as quick or easy. The new display also provides much less information than that of the 8595's (which in addition to graphical information, provided text messages/alerts for time left in minutes for charging/clea

I previously owned a Norelco Speed-XL, which disappointed me. Every clean and charge unit I owned would fail within a month or two, and though I'd get a close shave, I would come at the cost of a lot of irritation. To me, this model was not a lot better than the Quadra I had owned previously. I was ready to upgrade, but the reviews that I saw for the Arcitec indicated to me that I probably would have been disappointed again.

A long time ago, I owned a Braun, but had switched to the Quadra because I found the Braun loud and difficult to clean (this was in the pre-cleaning unit days). After reading mostly glowing ratings on the Series 7 Pulsonic, I decided to make the switch. Mostly, I have been quite pleased. There is much less irritation (I think my skin just couldn't handle the tug and slash mechanism of the rotaries any longer), and overall the shave stays closer all throughout the day. Oddly enough, it seems that initially the shave isn't as close as it was with the rotary

Ok, I have sensitive skin and have tried a lot of other electric razors and have used a lot of blades always to breakout, get ingrown hairs and bight red irritation on my neck. I could never even think of shaving two days in a row because of the razor burn on my neck, at most I could shave once or twice a week. With the Braun Pulsonic 9595 I am shaving everyday and my skin has never felt and looked better. Let me just say Wow, this one is by far the best razor I have ever tried hands down, no competition. The ones that pull the hairs up before cutting are not good at all for sensitive skin. Razors with 3, 4 and 5 blades I get more razor burn and ingrown hairs than ever. If you have sensitive skin then this is the razor for you. No fuss no muss with the self-cleaning system, just shave put it in its station push the button and go. The Braun 9595 looks like a lot of money at first glance. But add up all those blades you will be buying and adding to landfills or the electric ra

I have made the change from blade to electric razors 30 years ago and though no electic shaves as close as a blade I don't miss the skin irritation and the convenience of electric is hard to beat.

I have been a loyal Norelco fan until I received this razor as a gift. Both are very good but I give Braun the slight edge in absolute closeness but I still like the Norelco for getting the tough spots right under my nose and chin and parts of my neck.

I have only been using the Braun for three weeks now and each week my skill with it is improving. It is a very nice unit and the self cleaning feature seems to actually work well. The battery takes a complete charge in an hour and will last you a dozen or more shaves on the road between charges.

Is it the best thing since sliced bread? No. Do all other electrics pale in it shadow? No. However, it is a quality electric and I do not think anyone with realistic expectations would be unhappy with one. Read more

I have given this new Braun razor the obligatory two weeks before commenting. I am truly surprised at how disappointed I am given the overwhelming high ratings this product has received. It takes me appreciably longer to shave with the Braun unit than my previous Norelco triple-head razor. It misses a lot of hairs on first, second, and even third pass (esp. neck). I do not have a heavy beard and it is actually a pretty frustrating process to get a clean shave. In 30+ years of shaving, this is my first experience with a foil head design and it is not an unpleasant sensation, just inefficient. As others have commented, the flip up trimmer is in an awkward position which makes it difficult to use for nose hairs and inner ear. It is also a lot noisier than the Norelco, but that doesn't bother me as much as other reviewers. Overall, it's just OK (hence 3 stars), but I wish I hadn't succumbed to the hype and, instead, picked up another Norelco triple-head instead of this one. I gues
