The first thing that happen when I turned this TV is that I was blown away by the sound quality, it is the best I have ever heard come out of TV speakers ! I LOVE IT!

All I have is PROS for this TV, there is issues but read on..
The picture is good to above average with HD, I have seen better on a Toshiba I was checking out, but that is not to say this TV picture is bad, I am very happy with the picture in HD.
Without HD it is aweful, one of the worse I have ever seen, but what is the point of watching a HD TV without HD channels? So the fact that the picture is terrible without HD is really is no big deal , just get HD !

I got this on sale and for the price of 699.00 there is not another 42" 1080i that is comparable. The TV was very easy to hook up and the looks of it is off the charts.

the remote is easy to understand and works better than most with the way the buttons are set up.

I recommend this TV to anyone who is looking for a 42" HD but is on a budget, you will get more TV i

This TV is a steal at the sale price.I watch digital TV from my antenna and it is great. I have no problems with pictures broadcast in 480.They look clear and sharp. The 720 broadcast programs look amazing. Nascar is awesome in 720 i could actually see the small paint scrapes as the cars went by the camera. This TV has proved me wrong about LCD contrast. The blacks look great on this TV. I don't have cable so i can't comment on the picture with that.I have had no problems with the remote.I even pointed it in multiple directions away from the TV and still was able to change the station and volume. The sound was better than i expected after reading the reviews on here. I must have been lucky on the one i got. Also the PC connection is good. I hook my laptop up to it to watch streaming movies and the picture looks good in 1025x768. The bad thing is that now i can see all the irregularities in every ones faces that used to be blurred out in 480. Lets just say my hot list just got allot short

        <p>
Last time I bought a tv I looked very hard at the Proscan brand. I learned its RCA's higher end brand. While made by RCA proscan is aimed at a higher quality demographic.

While looking this time I found this 42" 1080p LCD was the same price as 30" (sometimes lower 720) LCDS so this was a unit I wanted to test.

I went to sears and it was instock and the picture blew me away! Not only did the hd picture look amazing but the high gloss black paint was very nice and looked like a tv that should cost $2000 or more (I paid $699)

Small issues - remote was ok but not as refined and high quailty as the set ... but ok. The picture did need alittle tweaking (by me not tech) but after a quick adjustment to color and darkness it looked great!

Again for the same price many other 30" LCD tvs you can have this HUGE 42" HQ LCD TV. <a href="http://www.buzzillions.com/reviews/proscan-42la45h-42-lcd-tv-1080p-hdtv-resolution-reviews#bz-model-review-7026204">Read more</a>

A lesson I keep being taught in life is never to buy the cheapest product in its class. Be it a car, a stereo, a vacuum, or a television, I have NEVER had good luck when trying to get away being cheap.
That is exactly the issue I have with the 42" ProScan 1080P HDTV I bought from Sears.
On the surface, $829.00 after mail-in rebate seemed like a steal for a 1080P, 42" TV.
The features, etc. looked decent, and in the store, the TV looked okay. Once I got it home, it was obvious it's junk. The settings are too weak, the preset picute settings are too muddy, and the remote is only functional within a 20-degree radius of the sensor (so if you are watchin from the side, you literally must stand up and get in front of the TV to use the remote).
The old saying "you get what you pay for" has been used by others to describe this TV. In all honesty, I don't even think you get what you are paying for! It is supposed to be 1080P, but it has the resolution of an old tube television. On channels like

Went to Sears to buy Olevia after a couple of months of research, and saw the great picture quality on the Proscan sitting next to the Olevia. The picture on this set was sharper and more vivid than sets costing twice as much in the store. Went home to research Proscan, and found out that RCA wasn't involved with them any more. (a good thing according to my research) They are now made by On Corporation, who is a manufacturer and supplier of lcd screens to some of the big boys, including Sony. I figured that with the Sears extended warranty I would take a gamble since the specs on this TV (1080P, 2000-1 contrast ratio, 6.5ms response time) surpass anything in it's price range, and even more expensive models. I'm glad I did. I bought it remembering that Sears has a 30 day return policy, and so what the heck! No way this set is going back to Sears!

The remote DOES take a bit of getting used to, and the manual is not very informative, but this TV Rocks! I have basic cable with like 6 or 7
