I purchased two (2) of these gps units (one for myself and one for a friend) because I puchased the 406 model for my husband and we love it. It clearly reads street names compared to my TomTom that does not read the street names. However, the 506 model isn't as user friendly, although the 406 and 506 are very similar. The date/time would not stay set (my husband has the same issue with his unit). The POI is so so. Thus, I returned both units. It's really too bad that the 406 models are challenging to locate. PS - this new version requires a SIM card.... Read more

I received this GPS unit as a gift one week ago. The mapping software and the performance are fine, but after about 10 minutes of use in my car, the suction cup that hold the unit in place on my windshield lost its suction and dropped the unit onto my dash. When this happened, the screen cracked (actually, shattered is probably more accurate) and the unit is now unusable. I called their customer service and asked about having it warrantied, but was told that they don't cover damage, even if it was caused by their faulty accessories. They did offer to replace the cracked screen for "$80 - $100", but wouldn't give me an exact cost until I send the unit to them at my cost.

Avoid this company and go with someone with a real warranty and customer service department behind them. Read more
