I really like this kit. It is all plastic, but it is safe. With a few extra items that I added, I brewed up a witches kitchen for my home haunt. I used a black light, highlighter markers soaked in water for spooky effect, painted the skull with glow paint, added a $5 fish tank air pump for the beakers, a few extra bottles and spooky creatures. My kitchen was complete. It is a lot of fun to design and every year my guest are mesmerized with the detail. Read more

A good, albeit somewhat misleading kit

I would've given this 5 stars if the packaging had been more honest about how the snake and the rat really looked. Instead of the large fake rat and snake pictured, you get a small gray rat and a small snake. Which would have been fine if they had just been upfront about it on the box.

Some might be disappointed that the labware has the writing imprinted into the plastic instead of printed on in white paint, but I didn't mind. On a more positive note, the burner and stand are coated in metallic plastic, unlike the gray plastic ones shown on the box.

But let's get on to the good points. You get a good variety of sturdy plastic labware all in one purchase instead of having to deal with buying various glass labware from surplus catalogs or thrift stores. I only know of one other "mad lab" kit on the market, which only offers test tubes and beakers, so I appreciated being able to get some larger bottles.

This kit is an excellent source of props for a mad scientist's lab or

Although I really liked the idea of this kit, I was very disappointed by the poor quality of its contents. The skull, snake and rat were not in the least bit lifelike. The spiderweb and spider were of lesser quality than those I had picked up from the clearance bin at the corner grocery store. And the stand and burner became cracked only 15 minutes after leaving the box. The only redeeming value were the three plastic bottles and test tube (too bad these aren't sold separately). Read more

I bought this kit to add to my spooky decor. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I like to decorate the house to the extreme. At first I was a bit skeptical because it's made of plastic and I wasn't sure if I would look authentic enough. I set this stuff up and used the ideas from other reviewers...dry ice, the thingie for fish tanks to make bubbles, used some food coloring with water.....set up the scene and it looked great. I've got lots of compliments, so I'm very pleased with it! Read more
