        Now I don&apos;t burn everything on the dreaded electric range.  I have always used gas - this induction burner is even more responsive.         I tried an number of portable induction units before setting on the Viking one.  Basically it&apos;s all about the BTUs (15,000 on this model) and I needed something that would boil water fast.  Less expensive units operated with less wattage which I suspect is why they were slower to heat up.  Also the construction of this unit feels built to last.
