I was nervous to purchase a portable unit due to the mixed ratings online and am happy to say that this unit is great. It cools my basement studio apartment great and i'm convinced the people who have posted negative comments about portable units either have defective units or simply dont know how to operate them correctly. Read more

Noisy but Effective! Well Worth Price!

I bought this 9000 BTU A/C in the middle of a heat wave.

It was the cheapest portable A/C on the net at the time (with 7000 BTU or more) @ $271.XX after taxes.

It does the job, but its VERY loud (which works for me because I live on a busy street).

If the hose that connects it to the window were somehow insulated, I would be happier (as the hot air being pumped out heats the hose and clearly escapes into the room); but again price is KING and this thing was like $150 less @ J&R than anywhere else.

I will be a repeat customer @ J&R Park Row.

Because I live on the first floor of a brownstone, there are bars on the window so i needed a portable air conditioner. For a cheap unit (they are more expensive than the window units) it does the trick. It's a little noisy but nothing you can't sleep through. The set up is not too bad. you just got to make sure the little water hose doesn't slip back into the vent. Read more

have anderson windows and had to adapt air outlet with cardboard on triangle opening left on bottom. however everythig else is wonderful. my central ac broke and i wasi a pnch and time constraints getting it fixed. this did the job and is my backup. highly recommended. Read more
