Pros - Able to play almost all kinds of video files like Divx/avi/mpg...etc.... - Occupies very less space - Nice big sub-woofer - Has an I-Pod dock (They missed mine...:-() - Has hdmi OUTPUT /Upscaling.....hdtv ready system - Has USB to play photo slide shows Cons - Quality at which Divx being played is medium - Quality of error correction of divx is bad - Sound quality is horrible...even with full bass...u hear the hiss... - Does not play all the DVDs (could not play the audio in some of them) - 2.1 speaker system Additional Thoughts - Nice system for the half the price they are selling for ..worth for about $200...thats it... - if only they can improve the sound quality... - support more audio formats on movie dvd Read more

Just hooked up the system last night. Everyone in the house was quite impressed with the sound this system was capable of generating for a system under $200! It was very easy to hook up, out of the box and working in less than 30 minutes. The iPod dock even worked with my iPhone 3G, but I have to put the cell phone in airplane mode while its connected to the surround sound. My only complaint with the sound this system generates is that the ambiant sounds periodically drown out the voices while playing both music and movies. For instance, it was a little hard to hear the voices in a movie during a scene with heavy rain, but not bad enough that I'm completely dissatisfied and want to return the unit. In other scenes, I was completely blown away with the quality of its sound. I have it hooked up in a small bedroom, and I think that sound experience may be a little different once the unit is hooked up in a larger room. Overall, I think this unit is a great deal..I love it! We bought this to compliment our Phillips 47''lcd and it is the perfect match. The sound is crisp, clear and downright awesome. I wasn't expecting much range in sound for under $200, but this baby will shake the door nobs with it's bass tones, if you are so inclined. Don't let the price fool you, this is a solid sound system. It has cleaner sound than our local movie theater, for sure! The ipod hook up could be more pleasing to the eye. The dock comes an adaptor for every ipod ever made, which is nice. There is a long cord that plugs into the side of the system, which looks a little strange, considering that it sits inches away from the unit. The use of three great speakers vs. five mediocre ones was a wise choice by Phillips. I've never been less than impressed with their products. Pros Set up was real easy. Learning curve on the remote not bad at all. I like the docking station for my ipod. You can tuck the system in your entertainment cabinet and the docking station is on a extended wire so you can place it in a more convenient spot. Cons System will enhance TV watching but if you are looking for the full theater sound in movies and you have a large room, mine is 20x20, you lose. This system is better suited for a den, bedroom, or average living room. Also FM antenna is a thin wire and you cannot get good reception for many channels. Additional Thoughts There should have been more of a non technical recommendation that would give room size, limitations to expand more speakers, I would have bought rear speakers if it would allow me to do so to improve sound. Eventually I will move this to another TV and get a system that will fill a 20x20 room properly. Read more

Was in need of a small compact sound system to play My LCD TV through as the speakers on the TV were starting to hiss...(my fault hard of hearing so have to turn it up) tried to find system locally and could not find one that would let Me play TV without paying arm and leg. This system is the best I have seen I have no complaints was shipped in a timely manner and plays DVDs and the TV beautifully l would buy it again in a sec. Easy to put together and sound quality is great. Well worth the money. only down side is the features are hard to read off the remote (but again My fault bad eyesight). all in all I say buy it and enjoy the sound you deserve. Read more
