This soft-shell 3 layer jacket is not restrictive and has the cinch straps and Velcro in all the right places. The material seems very rugged and has not let me down even when I put it through rough situations. The waist has drawcords located at the bottom of the jacket that let you cinch it tight to keep the elements out. I've had jackets that have the drawcords inside the jacket pockets, which can be cumbersome to adjust. The cords are easily adjustable with gloves on. I have average size hands and my gloves are not as thick as some ski gloves. The snowskirt works well and does not ride up during activity. It has a rubber-like material that lines the inside of the elastic that grips fabric well and helps and keep it in place. The cuffs have Velcro clasps that do the job. it was coming down cats and dogs and whatever other animals it comes down yesterday and I had to walk a half mile back to my car. Take God I had my stingray! I put on some cheap waterproof pants and my arcteryx and headed out! I thought I was the baddest mother just thrashing through the rain without missing a beat. Then it happened. It was picture perfect and I was in the right place at the right time. A giant truck was flying down the road and with it came a giant picture perfect wall of water that crashed me! if I wasnt already wet from the rain now I was covered from head to toe. It stopped me in my tracks and all I could do was turn around and look at the trunk with a shrug. Then it happened again. Another picture pefect wall of water hits me in the back while I am still looking at the first truck. True story I swear! This is simply the best shell out there. No wind or weather can get at you wearing this one! Extra room for layering for the cold days, even in the arms! ( which is a problem for some of their other shells...the Scorpion to be exact.)Helmet compatible storm hood is a real plus when the temps drop, although it only seems to stay on when riding the lift. This is my third Arcteryx jacket. I have the Sidewinder as well and now alternate between the two for skiing. This jacket is very well made and will keep you dry under any conditions skiing. The fit is great around the arms/shoulders, but this jacket is a little snug when compared to the Sidewinder. You cant go wrong with this jacket. Read more

Ok...first things first, THIS JACKET IS AWSOME. I had done a lot of research about a lot of different Arc'teryx jackets and it came down to the Stingray and the Sidewinder AR ( I was looking for any goretex jacket for the winter and for snowboarding). I'm 5'10" and I am 125 pounds so pretty skinny... i believed a small would suit me the best. I assumed this because i had tried on the Theta AR jacket before hand and the small had fit me well. When getting the Stingray i tried it on and i realized it was pretty much a perfect fit but one thing was different, the length felt short as it was about at my hips. I realized this wouldn't work well with the snow skirt as it would rise even more than how high it already is. So i decided to get the medium. The medium was a better fit for me because of the length making the snowskirt more useful and the jacket felt better knowing i could have a little more room for layers.
