I recommend this boat for those with a clear idea of what this boat's capabilities are, and for those not afraid of the water. If afraid, get a bigger boat! This is NOT a boat for open water, unless you are experienced with little boats and know the weather forecast. Even then, I'd still recommend staying near shore in any big water.I bought mine with a 5 HP Mercury 2-stroke, and when I'm alone, with battery, anchor, cooler, tackle, etc, it planes nicely and goes 15.5MPH according to the GPS. (I weigh 225lbs) Unfortunately, with a second person, it does NOT plane, and only reaches 6-7 MPH at just above idle.Even so, it gets outstanding gas mileage either way. I've run mine for several hours at various speeds on about 1.5 QUARTS of gas. Also, due to the generous width, it is surprisingly stable, even with two people on board. Also, it is not bad at all in chop or crossing wakes. I'd recommend making a bailer from a bleach bottle, just in case. You WILL get some water in the b

We use this as a sailboat tender for 2 adults, 2 kids, and 2 dogs on Cape Cod, MA. We tow it behind an M26 Sailboat and power with a 2HP 2 stroke. It is far superior to the inflatable we previously used for kids and pets. It rows well due to chined hull. Oarlocks are a bit weak - plastic on mine.
Rated 5 stars for value - cant be beaten here...!! Read more

Didn't want to deal with the issues that inflatables have given me in the past and also didn't want to spend to much. We only use the boat to motor around the harbor.. I do wish I could have seen the PELICAN SCORPIO at the same time to compare, since I think I might have chosen it instead (MABYE SOME ONE COULD CHIME IN WITh THERE COMPARISON)

My issue is the motor mount area..it is just the plastic stern with a thick plastic matt..I would have liked a solid mount, but it works ok.. Read more

we took a 48 lb. Wahoo on 12 lb line 1.5 miles from shore in very calm seas, we got a 33 lbs. Dolphin also on 12 lb. and many kingfish, bonitos and tunas on light tackle, she is light, easy to work with. Will like some storage and bailing sistem. If you keep calm is fairly stable, but do not go near the rear, we sank it to see if it floats, It DOES...full of water Read more
