Great Asset

        I have used this product for a while and got to personally compare it with DCR -SR42. Both have theire advantages and disadvantages , so let me chart this out for you -
SR42 vs SR-200

1. Quality -
SR200 -> Very good quality. Amazing in low lights conditions as well. Night mode is also a worth feature. There is no motor sound in any video and the mic has a good reception.
SR42 -> So-So quality. Low light output is ok. Night mode stands comparable to SR200 and the sound too . So only thing as far as quality is concerned is the vidoe quality.

2. Zoom ->
SR200 -> A mere 10X optical zoom , is just OK. I found myself handicapped at quite a few instances with the low zoom capability.
SR42 -> Really stands out with a 40X optical zoom. Focuses well even on the high zoom and this is really a great PLUS for this handycam.
I would have loved to see the SR200 with a high Zoom capability.

3. Still Images ->
SR200 -> A 4mp camera really allows u to carry just this , and leave ur dig

I would recommend this product to anyone

        The hard drive can hold several hours of video and is very easy to use. I did not want Mini-DVD due to their short recording times and high price. And, while Mini-DVD cassettes have the potential for higher quality video recording, it is the older technology on its way out and its not as easy to use. I see memory card camcorders as the wave of the future, and, within a few years, memory cards will have the capacities to take over the market... but I didn't want to wait a few years.

The recording quality of this camcorder is great! Most consumer digital camcorders use a 1/6' (or similar) CCD sensor, but at the higher end you'll find either larger 1/3' sensors or camcorders that use 3 seperate sensors. These larger sensors deliver better results in low light with much less 'noise' in the final picture.

The lens quality on this camcorder is also very good. While some may complain that the zoom is a mere 10x when some camcorders are getting over 30x, consider this: if you want more z

EXCELLENT CAMCORDER FOR THE PRICE!!

        First off, I have reviewed ALL camcorders before this purchase and it is the BEST in it's class! If you are a pro, expert, or just want to get into filming as a hobbiest, you will want to buy an accessory kit for this cam. This cam has everything you will need to use for your home, sports events or whatever you intend to use it for. I do want to point out (right real quick) that some of the reviews stating on hear about the low light level being horrible, but it's not!I actually video taped my son playing in his music band were he goes to college, and let me tell you it was dark! 50ft. away! The camcorder performed flawlessly when switched to the night mode and the video turned out as if you video taped in the day! The video and stills have Great quality!Well, their are so many features on this cam it is hard to list all of them, so read the specs. on it. The only thing that I would have liked to seen on this cam is a viewfinder, but hey, it's no big deal! I give it a 5 star even if it

Excellent Camera!

        from
        Winnipeg, Manitoba

        I did a lot of research before purchasing a HDD camcorder, and I finally ended on this one. It has numerous features which are all easy to use! I've had no problems with this camera at all, and I'm not exactly a seasoned camera user! It takes excellent pictures, and the footage is good quality. One draw back is the lack of a light & therefore is somewhat grainy in low lighting, but there are tons of accessories you can purchase (all pretty expensive though).
Overall, easy to use, and transfer files, easy to take pics and print them off with the micro SD expansion slot, small and compact, durable, no probs! The only thing is that it comes with a small battery, which doesn't last very long & therefore you are forced to buy a longer lasting one to get any real recording time at all! For the price they could have added in a larger battery for us!
I would definitely recommend this! It was well worth the money, and buying from B&H Photo was easy, and hassel-free! Thanks!! Read more

        I have used this camcorder for a month now. The use has been all indoors. The recording quality is not so bad indoors (provided you have good lighting). In low lighting areas, there is a lot of graining. I did cut a DVD. The video quality is good but was a little disappointed with audio. I am hearing lots of background humming noise in the recording which kind of ruins the whole experience. The battery hanging out side the device is a little ugly. The touch screen is very small. Decent buy for the price. Dont expect too much from this handycam. Read more
