I purchased a $1,200 system but returned it because it sounded horrible after it was home and connected. For that much money I expected a "Wow" effect, but was very disappointed.
So, back to researching what one store told me was not possible. I just bought a Blu-ray player that I am very happy with and a Sony 46" Z series LCD TV so I didn't want a system with a DVD player or Blu-ray player. I also didn't want a big receiver, big speakers, and a big subwoofer.
I found this system on Sony's website and came here to check the price. After much consideration I selected this system because of the sleek and small receiver and speakers.
After several hours of hiding speaker wires, splicing the subwoofer wire to add a segment of additional speaker wire so I could hide the subwoofer, adding OmniMount Satellite speaker stands and hooking up all the speakers I turned the system on.
I must admit I was very skeptical because this system was only a fraction of the price I'd spent on the system I re

        My tech friends told me not to buy an all-in-one speaker system because I would have connection problems and the audio wouldn't play with my regular tv viewing, only when I watched movies. I didn't think so and did some research on the set-up and it works great! I happen to have a Sony Bravia TV as well, with 4 hdmi ports (a great selling point for me) which I ended up not needing. The speaker system has plenty of hdmi ports, which reduces a lot of the wire clutter I had with my old tv. The set up was easy, the sound quality is amazing, and the system itself is a smart system (maybe because it's paired up with a Sony TV)... when I turn my tv on/off, the speakers turn on/off automatically. There is no fiddling with different remotes to change volume or turn on/off components. Plus, I didn't even have to program my cable remote to work with the tv; it automatically recognized the system.

This was definitely a great purchase. It supplies amazing quality for the price. Just m

        <p>
        I chose this unit mainly because it would interface well with my other Sony components. It is really nice only needing one remote at a time. Audio thru HDMI is a really nice feature also. cuts down on the amount of connections needed.

I was sceptical about the performance of this unit due to its small size and low cost. However my expectations were more than exceeded. The sound is very clear and defined. The bass is just about perfect for my needs. I wanted the definition and depth of a good sub without rattling the windows and this unit works great. I made custom brackets to point the satelite speakers towards ear level which helps if you mount them high.

At first I let the system auto calibrate. It did decent and got the speaker distance close. But I measured the distance myself and tweaked the levels. In my opinion it is just better to manualy adjust things yourself. It only takes a couple of minutes either way.

I would have given it 5 stars but it was missing the speaker w

        I picked this up and set it up last night. It's strengths and weaknesses being readily apparent. First off this is my first surround system but I know from fortunate experiences what high end audio sounds like and have worked in my mispent youth with very large very expensive PAs.

I picked this up as a more responsible choice given the economic uncertainty and got a bit more than I paid for but I also got all the limitations as well.

The sub is fat without being wallowy and for a bunch of little boxes not emblazoned with the 'B' (ose) word they make a lot of sound. But they are little boxes and the center especially feels a little tinny but is clear enough. I have not spent a lot of time tweaking placement and tone settings which while limited are available from the receiver. I figure I should be able to clean some of my disatisfaction up after some more time with the system.

The receiver benefits from 3 HDMI inputs without requiring optical cables to get the audio information from

        This is not the first home theater system I have owned, but it may be the best. I am extremely impressed with the sound quality and the way the system interacts with my TV and Blu-Ray. My system is in a rather sizable room and it fills the room with vibrant sound. Not only will you hear thunderous explosions, but also the softest of dialogs. With the easy to use "auto calibration", it is hard to not enjoy the complete home theater experience.

Set up was a breeze. Sony makes it simple for even electronicly challenged people like me. Everything is color codeded for hooking up your speakers. Each speaker is labled and is specific for where it should be located. Connecting and running the wires couldn't be easier. The auto calibration takes only minutes and you are ready to enjoy the best your TV has to offer. I do recommend that you use HDMI cables, it make setup so easy and the quality is unsurpassed.

This system creates sound that you would expect from a much more expensive system. Do
