I wish there had been more specific instructions for getting the best sound quality out of this microphone right out of the box. My main use is for adding voice-over or other sounds to short video. I had to experiment with settings on my computer, microphone set-up, and Soundbooth, but after about an hour (a frustrating hour) I figured out the best way to capture fantastic sound reliably. I've used this microphone to capture voices and sounds in nature clearly. I'm very happy with this product. Read more

i use this microphone to record external sound AWAY from my video camera. it's excellent because i no longer hear any noise from my hands shifting on the camera. it picks things up really well. now, though i personally don't have a problem with this, the mic only picks up the left channel. not the right. so far as i can tell, anyway. this may be due to a 1-channel feed that goes with having 3.5 mm jacks...
however, computer editing can easily fix this. Read more

I need to record a chorus from a distance and need to have very good fidelity and this unit provides just what I need to keep the chorus members happy. I tested this unit against my other shotgun mikes and this unit has a better all around quality. I'm very happy with this.
Thank you for carrying this unit. Read more

Not worth anything if it doesn't work

Simply put save your money and pay a little more for any other mic out there. I used two of these for some live event recording and the sound is flat and hollow. The mic itself is very likely to actually give off a whine or drone depending on how it feels. The length is long for a microphone with such a short range of pick-up. Anything over 10' is going to be drowned out by the ambient noise. I simply cannot recommend this mic over any Azden or Audio Technica (even the $200 ones) much less a Sennheiser ME66/67 mics. If you do own one, buy a mono to stereo adapter to fill out both channels, or you can fix it in post.

Expertise: Event videography company

Problems Encountered: This mic has a whine and low db setting that has a whine to it that is very hollow sounding.

Previous Equivalent Item Owned: ME66 ME67 AT897

Used this mic for a year in field production unit. For the cost it has really nice sound and descent pick-up pattern, really great from 0-5 ft. I would agree it is not built for HEAVY use, but it's 80 bucks, not $3000 Sennheiser. Let us not compare a Honda Accord to a Ferrari, nor bypass common sense. If you're going to be recoding on the battlefront, yah, bring a tank, if you're recording at a wedding bring a can opener.

Expertise: Professional, Professor

Problems Encountered: Same as others, this mic only works as mono.

Items I Recommend: Pop filter, Boom, Wind Shield Read more
