I'm very happy with my new Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster binoculars. I'm new to astronomy and decided to get a decent pair of astro binocs for wide-field observing. The moon and star clusters are amazing to view through the big binoculars. There a bit heavy, almost six pounds, but I adapted an inexpensive digital camera tripod and made a binocular mount. The mount features a hinged platform for a Rigel QuikFinder.Brent Allen Parrish[@] Read more

I knew nothing about binoculars so I did internet research and finally decided on the Celestron 20 x 80. We live in an area overlooking a large wildlife area. The views range up to ~ 1,000 yards. These binoculars allow us to view objects we never realized were there! Now we can not only find birds we've never seen before but we can almost tell the color of their eyes. We also are avid RV travelers and these binoculars really bring in a whole new perspective. A recent trip to Mount Rushmore was much more enjoyable with these binoculars (see picture). I let a couple of people look thru them and with the comments made about the clarity and general view I had many more "Just a quick look" requests. They are big and heavy but I knew that before I bought them. I just figured thats the price you pay for basically having two telescopes welded together. With these binoculars I have no desire to look for anything better. Read more

I bought these for astronomy and they worked great. The first night alone I was able to see the Andromeda Galaxy, Jupiter, Earth's moon, Neptune, the double cluster, Orion's Nebula, and NGC457 an open star cluster.

I think the views were outstanding. A tripod is a must with these. They aren't that heavy but I wouldn't want to be holding them all night either. Read more

I'm not a poet by any means...
However, I can say that upon receiving my new binocs, I was impressed by the overall construction both astheticaly and quality wise. The instructions were adequate - I don't think there is any higher math required in using a pair of binoculars... but they showed how to focus and use and defined the terminalogy used.

Daytime images were exceptionally sharp and bright and the range of view was better than expected. I have a waterfront apartment with a beach and bars that are nicely visible from my perched balcony. Take one guess what I'm using these for... That's right. To hell with the stars and birds.

Functionality of focusing components were a little tight at first but once adjusted a couple of times they broke-in to a nice smooth operation.

You most definitely, without a doubt.. need to put these behemoth sized babies on a tri-pod. You WILL be shaking too much to be able to appreciate the quality.

I'm thoroughly impressed with these binoculars. Many years ago as a student, I fell into obsession with stargazing. Post Grad, career, and family took the spotlight in my life and made astronomy a back seat item. Fast forward twenty years....we decided it was time our familygot into astronomy, and take the plunge with my wife and two children. We camp often, love God's creation, and enjoy partaking in family learning experiences. We also purchased a nice entry level Celestron reflector scope. EVERYONE in my family fell in love with these binocs! I'm sure folks driving by found the picture of the four off us laying down in the driveway, passing the binocs back and forth as we identifed different craters on the moon amusing. We sure did!A decent heavy duty tripod is not essential, but a very worthwhile added investment.[@] Read more
