I've owned this rope for about 3 years and have used it for TR at local crags, sport climbs, multi-pitch trad and ice, as well as in the gym. This rope has done it all. The dry treatment has diminished over time and the rope freezes up a little; however, generally it is very easy to handle. I am not sure what the previous reviewer was referring to, but the rope stretch does not seem excessive, and I've belayed 200 lbs people on it. Read more

Prior posters need to realize that climbing rope is dynamic - it's MEANT to stretch. That's what allows you to fall and not get torn in half by the force of the rope catching you (also what allows a fall to be caught without wrenching gear placements out, and that includes bolts/anchors - it's amazing how much force a static rope exerts on anchors and climbers when shock-loaded). Any dynamic rope used to toprope a heavy person will have a lot of stretch initially when the climber first leaves the ground. This will get "better" over time (actually worse), when the dynamic, shock-absorbing qualities of the rope get used up over time. Thicker ropes (11mm) are much better choices for toproping, particularly if you're belaying heavy climbers. They'll keep some stretch longer, and won't need to be retired as quickly. For lead climbing, it's better to try to choose a slightly thinner/ lighter rope, with low impact force (8KN or lower is good) which is generally associated with relatively more

i generally like smaller ropes, but hate the trade off in durability. this one gets lots of mileage, handles beautifully, and for me seems a reasonable compromise between size/weight/diameter and durability/life expectancy. my only complaint is that some other ropes are smoother longer, and stiffer for easier clipping, while this one gets a little fuzzy and limp over time. highly recommended, though (especially if you can find it on sale, like i did!). Read more

Bluewater ropes are great ropes, are made in the USA of high quality material. The only problem I have with this rope, which is fairly minor, is that the middle is not marked at all, not even with tape. Read more

Awesome rope. Thin yet strong. Long, but manageable even for indoor gym climbing. This will probably become my dedicated outdoor trad rope very soon. The rope is to thin to use with a Grigri (belay device), but I don't have one anyways. I would buy this rope again and again. Read more
