So far I have only used it on terra ferma and it works fine. I discovered quickly that I had to buy a chip to have any length of recording time. My last dive got cancled due to high seas. I really like the idea of double protection, I can use the silcon skin when kayaking and the hard case when diving. I really can't waith to get it underwater in the hard housing, after all that's the main reason I purched this camera. It should be a great starter for underwater videotogrophy for the diver on a budget, other system run more than twice the price. I checked three online dive sites and B & H had the best price, this system seems to be a great value. I also recomend purchesing a video editer to get the most out of a system like this. Read more

Good 'Bang for the Buck' Video Camera

I took this camcorder/housing to Costa Rica diving in 2008 and have great underwater video of sharks, mantas, and octopus. There was surge and visability was not great and the still pictures were blurry; however, the video was pretty good. It was a good 'bang for the buck' as they say. If you don't want to spend a lot of money for an underwater video/housing system, this is a good little system. Lightweight and easy to use. The only bad part was the battery only lasted one dive and I had to have a spare battery charged and on-hand to change between dives. I also used it at an animal reserve. I would also say, the bad part about the camera is, as soon as you stop recording, it does not record the next item continuously, but makes separate AVI/MPEGs. Not a problem, but I don't know how to merge them into one continuous recording like the old HI8 tapes. I liked the system and will order the wide angle lens for it for my next trip. Read more

The Video takes a very steady hand and even still can be jumpy and a bit grainy. I upraded the camera through the manufacturer to the hddv for a small cost. For the price I feel its a really good deal and have been happy with it. I would recommend adding a camera tray and handles to help steady it while filming underwater. Read more

The housing and such are fine, unfortunately the camera inside is horrid. No ability to adjust color balance, poor low light ability, no image stabilization. What's the point? Don't waste your money. Read more
