I read the reviews here and was impressed by Zilactin's passionate following, and my cold sores are such a long and crummy intrusion every couple of months, so I ordered it. To my skeptical surprise, it does seem to help! I always get cold sores in the same spot, right in the middle of my fat bottom lip, and they end up tender, scabrous, even bloody at times; Zilactin prevents those gross symptoms, and consequently I seem to heal quicker. In fact, this time around I applied before the blister formed, right at the first size of tenderness. It seems to have prevented the blistering to form almost altogether! There's only a couple of tiny blisters where normally a tremendous, ugly sore forms. I wonder how it works?! The liquid product apparently forms a sort of protective seal, which maybe keeps out the things that cause infection and pain (my lymph nodes aren't swollen, either). The lidocaine ingredient takes away the pain, and I forget about the cold sore for most of the day. … Read more

So I broke out monday afternoon... used it right after. By wednesday no more sore. Thursday I broke out again with a sore right next to the old. Sad to say that products that make me clear up fast, also tend to make me break out again quickly in another spot. I'm hoping this one will clear up just as fast but doesn't look promising as on day one it's didn't stop growing like the other it's still going :( Read more

Absolute NO one could have ever had more problems with cold sores than I did. I had them all the time - once totally covering my face from the nose down to the chin. Even the slightest sunburn or chapped lips would result in lots of them & any little tiny illness would result in dozens. No more -- at slightest tingle - use the Zilactin - no sore!!!!!!!!!!! I use both the liquid and the gel - the liquid during the day - the gel at night! It's in my purse ALL the time. After the rave reviews, I tried this product for a cold sore that came up unexpectedly. Although it was better than not using anything at all, it did not work well for me. The cold sore continued to get worse. Finally, after two days of giving it a good try, I gave up and covered the cold sore with Abreeva and the next morning, it was almost gone. Glad it worked so well for others - just not my choice. Read more
