Fits in cabinet but that's the only plus

I use my microwave a lot and my built in one finally quit working so I needed to find another that would fit in the existing cabinet. This kitchenaid was the closest in size so I ordered it along with the trim kit. The microwave is missing many of the features of my old GE, including no 30 second cook and you can't just press the number 2 for it to cook 2 minutes. Sometimes the door doesn't open at the bottom and you have to push it shut at the top and punch the open button hard to get the microwave to open. The trim kit has huge finger sized gaps on both sides of the microwave. This allows the blue sides(yes, blue on a stainless steel microwave)to show. It's constantly covered in finger prints and looks really cheap - especially for the price. Read more

I installed the microwave myself (and the new oven too). The first time my wife used the microwave oven she set a potato in it and pressed "auto sensor cook". The display immediatly said "BK POTATO". Her mouth dropped open. She was less excited when she realized baked potato just happened to be the first food in the list, but the look on her face was priceless! Read more

This unit has a trim kit for built in purposes. It is very attractive. Has a high-end look about it. The high power rating makes for quick and easy reheating. If you want quality and convenience at a moderate price this is the microwave for you. Read more

I bought this to replace the microwave that broke in my built-in Kitchenaid microwave/oven combination. I didn't want to replace the entire microwave/oven unit yet, and there wasn't a replacement just for the microwave. So I bought this as just a temporary countertop unit, but I love it! It actually works better than my old built-in. It's quiet, powerful, heats evenly, and doesn't retain the food odors. The "add a minute" feature is great. It lets you cook in one minute intervals. Press it once and you have one minute, twice and you have two and so on. The styling is good, so it doesn't ruin the look of your kitchen sitting out on the counter. The controls are easy to use and sturdy. I like it so much, I might keep it as an extra oven when I redo the kitchen and get a new built-in. It's good Kitchenaid quality at a reasonable price. Well done.

My first Kitchen Aid microwave oven finally died and it performed so well for me over many years I decided to buy another. I got the stainless steel model - although not as eloquently designed as the previous model, it was not offensive. I still was able to use the SS frame after grinding off 1/4 inch of medal. The positives - much more power (have broken one dish already) and faster cooking time, easy to clean, same features and control methodology as my old microwave. The negatives - quality does not appear to be as good i.e. cheaper construction, door misaligned, so does not close easily, but not bad enough to go through the hassle of returning, they also made the start button smaller, use it the most, the button they squeeze into the space is used infrequently.

Initially, I was excited ordering a newer model of the Kitchen Aid, but got my hopes too high and am slightly disappointed at the result. My mistake, they do not make things like they used to. Read more
