The last good bike I purchased was in 1986. I bought a peugeot that was a great road bike at the time. I lived near a great 18 mile long bike path that ran through the city of Houston, TX and got to be an avid cyclist over the next 3 years. When I moved back to Dallas I didn't have a great bike path at my disposal so I gradually got away from cycling. I hated riding on the road with traffic.

I started looking for a bike just recently because I moved to an area that is more bike friendly. I was going to get a mountain bike because I didn't want the traditional road bike. Since I would be doing more street riding I wanted to have the upright position of the mountain bike for better visibility and awareness. I didn't even know about "hybrid" bikes like this until I went searching in earnest for a new bike. I found a great bike shop just about a mile from my home that is an authorized Trek dealer and they did a great job educating me on my choices. I settled on this model and co

I love this bike!

I use my bike for commuting and fitness. Regarding commuting, the ride is just upright enough to feel comfortable in traffic, but still low enough for fast riding. Most hybrids I rode had a more comfort than performance feel, which I disliked. The 7.5 leans slightly the other way, still very comfortable, but not saggy.

Recently returned to cycling, I find this bike to be the perfect balance of road and comfort. I appreciate the tire width, which is not too thin like road racer beasts, but not fat and inefficient. This helps me feel stable when timing stoplights, starting at intersections, or encountering road hazards (sand, glass, rocks).

At the same time, the bike as plenty of room speed-wise to grow into as fitness improves. High gear is plenty fast, yet the nasty hills on my commute are manageable.

I struggled to convince myself to purchase the lower models (a 7.2 or 7.3) but in the end the 7.5 felt so much better, I went for it and never looked back. It was money well-spe

I bought this bike in January 2008 and rode it every week for six months. I had not been on a bike in a few years due to knee pain and had gotten very out of shape. I went to Gator Cycle in Gainesville, FL and they really listened to what my needs were and helped me select the bike that was right for me at that time. The FX 7.5 (affectionately named Ruby)really turned things around for me!
The bike handles very well and is comfortable for rides up to 25-35 miles. Ruby reawakened my passion for cycling and helped me to shed a LOT of weight.
Why did I ride weekly until July? Ruby also served as a gateway dru.. I mean bike . In July, I purchased a Madone 5.1, which is an amazing ride as well. The Trek FX 7.5 really opened up a new life for me, and I am grateful. It's a great bike. If you're not looking for a road bike but want to ride on bike paths or in town, this is the bike for you. Read more

First about me, then the bike. I have ridden ~4,500 miles per year for the past three years, have been riding bikes for nearly 60 years, and building bikes on a regular basis for about 12 years (worked professionally for ~two). Because I have degenerative arthritis, I was very skeptical about giving up my hand-built steel Bianchi, fearing an aluminum frame might be "too harsh." But this bike was good looking, has good components, and is priced right. I have always found that Treks fit me well (this is my third), so I looked at their offerings first and found that the FX 7.5 in 20" had the best value with the least predictable changes- for me this meant a decent 9 speed drive train, tall head tube, mounts for racks and fenders, and 32 mm tires( I love 32's but they won't fit on your "I'm A Lot Like Lance" bike). I have only had this bike one month, so have ridden around 200-300 miles. I have been on two group rides with the local club and probably did better at speed and certainly

This bike is like a dream come true. I rode my last bike for the past 10 years and then decided it was time to get a new bike. I really wanted value and performance and I wanted a bike that would last. I didn't make that decision quickly. I rode about 15 hybrids before I first rode the 7.5 FX. Since I use this bike to comute to work everyday, I needed a bike that handled well on the bike path and on the road, but I didn't want to shell out for a racing bike ... and this bike handles both road and trail with grace and comfort. Read more
