I work 12 hour shifts on my feet running around the Emergency Dept, and when I started this job 1 1/2 years ago I seriously had to contemplate if I could do the job. I enjoyed it very much, but suffered from tremendous pain starting 3-4 hours into my shift in my heel and especially arches. I saw several podiatrists, who recommended Superfeet orthotics, new balance, asics, and avia running shoes, eventually paid [$] for a pair of custom made orthotics, dropped another $200 for 6 weeks of physical therapy... and all of these interventions helped marginally. My pain at the end of a shift went from a 10 to a 9. Since using MBT's (this is my 2nd pair) it has gone down to a 3 or 4 at the end of a shift, and virtually pain-free the next day (which was unheard of before.) They feel awkward for the first week or so, but once your body gets used to them they feel great. And this closeout deal is a real bargain. I'm a healthy 44 yr old with no physical ailments. I work in a hopital pushing a 200+ lb ultrasound machine from room to room and then I stand to perform the exam. I've had pain in the balls of my feet for years. (It's so bad, I can't stand to be barefoot at home). I have bought every kind of tennis shoe and worn every kind of insert..(even those products that you put your foot in to make a custom molded insole) with marginal results. I noticed some of my coworkers wearing these unusual looking shoes and when I inquired...they were unanimous in their satisfaction (and warned me to get a half size larger). When I rec'd these shoes...I wore them w/out any inserts and they are the first shoe that actually gave me relief. They seem to be rounded inside (into my arch) as well as the sole...distributing my weight evenly across the entire foots surface, much better than any aftermarket insert did. I bought this pair for my husband. The first thing he said was, "Why did you get me a white one?" My husband never wanted white for shoes. But that was the last complaint that I ever heard about this shoes from him. Since he started using it at his work in 2 hospitals, he had nothing to say but good things about this pair. He works almost everyday, and usually when he gets home, he would just change and sit on our recliner, put his legs up, and say "I am so tired!" But since wearing this shoes, he would come home, and still asks me and my daughter to go out and eat or grab something from a store! His friends made fun of how it looks like, but he doesn't care. I just bought my second pair. And, last week, bought a pair for my wife. She loves them. I had a pain in my back from sitting at a computer many hours a day. My chiropractor had been working on it for three weeks. After two weeks of my MBT's no pain and no chiropractor. Also, the shoes develop your anterior tibialis, (I hope I have that right) which are almost impossible to develop. These are essential muscles for lateral movement and quick starts in all sports. MBT's rule and taught this old dog (70) some new tricks about walking. Plus, somehow you feel taller when you walk in MBT's. Maybe because you are. Read more
