My 9yr old son was riding this bike and suddenly the frame broke when going down hill on an ordinary road. The frame snapped without warning causing a head on dive. Luckily only minor cuts to hands. Read more

I would urge parents to consider this bike. It may be priced higher than department store bikes but it is well worth it. It has many adjustment options, you can make it safe for your child to ride now, while still allowing for growth in the future. My daughter went through several department store bikes and I suffered through many repairs. We have not had to have a repair for 2 1/2 years. I have made several adjustments to the bike during that time. Consider this, when we purchased the bike she was 8. She was to small to fit a traditional(department store) 24" bike, so we would have had to purchase a 20". By now she would need a 24" bike. We would have spent money on 2 bikes instead of 1, and we have had excellent reliability. I was skeptical because of the initial cost compared to a department store bike, after 2 1/2 years I am convinced that I made the right choice.
