When shopping for a spare battery I noticed that the after-market battery had a slightly different voltage, not wanting to chance ruining my new camera, I elected to buy the Canon battery. I bought this equipmqnt for an Alaska Vacation and didn't want to run out of batery before film. Canon has a great reputation and I've been pleased, and I have never been let down by their equipment. This battery holds it's charge. In morning when it is cold battery will lose some charge but what's left in charge will allow shooting for the rest of tape and some of another one. I recommend this battery highly. Even though I use the camcorder in auto I do a lot better with a DSLR and know more about them. Read more

Haven't used it much, but it has a little more capacity than stock battery and so lasts a little longer. For extended recording time, I would recommend considering the larger battery by Canon. Read more
