Good basic stove at a good price

Spent months researching stoves and settled on this one. We were electric users for 25 years, but wanted to switch to gas because electrics put out such high levels electro magnetic radiation. Research is showing increasingly that this may be a health risk. A consumer magazine indicated that Hotpoint/GE, Frigidaire/Kenmore and Whirlpool were most reliable in that order. Didn't like the Hotpoint/GE because the burners are too big. Some of our pans are small and most of the heat would end up going around the pan instead of onto the bottom, a big waste of gas. Frigidaire/Kenmore and Whirlpool have smaller burners and we liked the simple clean styling of the Whirlpool best. Add to that the rock bottom price for a self-cleaning model and Whirlpool was the choice. So far we are happy with this stove. Seems well built and performs well. The oven is dead on for temperature. Everything I've baked in the oven has come out perfectly. I didn't have to rotate the pan of cookies or lasagna casserole to get them evenly browned. The controls are very easy to use. Love the oven temperature read on top of the range and the alert to let me know the oven has reached the temperature I want. The auto on and auto off features for the oven are good to have. I like having a work area between the burners. A lot of newer ranges have grates across the entire top of the range and they're inconvenient for laying down spoons and spatulas. This range allows me to have a spoon rest on top of the stove, which I like. I cannot rate the broiler because I use my counter top Cuisinart Convection Oven/Toaster/Broiler for broiling meat. I agree with the previous people who reviewed their new range. It's perfect for me and probably the nicest range I've ever owned and yet, it's the least expensive. Nice job Whirlpool, I'm not going to get into the details because they are listed and everything works perfectly well on this range. I actually enjoy cooking on it and that probably says a lot coming from a single man. Read more

This rage is getting extremely HOT in the FRONT within few minutes and you can not touch it. Even after use it stays very hot in the front for while. We had Whirlpool range before buying this one and it did have this problem. Got burned often. Manufacturer bad design. Beware of same problem with other manufacturer as well. Just buy the one that is safe for day to day use. Buy the one that has 4 equal small burner otherwise you will end up paying too much GAS bill every year more than what you pay for range. Keep your old one if you like it and don't go for the one that is latest in the market. Hope this helps everyone before choosing the right one. Product is bad but BEST BUY is good as always. Read more
