Wish I'd read the reviews prior to purchasing this on 3/27/08. With a home sewing business, I needed a heavier iron with different steam settings. What this gave me was an out-of-control steam system that leaks water everywhere and stains fabric. Many good articles of clothing ruined. Re-read the instructions and did everything they said to do but still had problems. Self-clean feature very tempermental. The dry, no-steam setting is the only way I can use it, but it does shut off very quickly and takes too long to heat up again. The one thing I did like was the covered water-fill opening. Read more

As a former Marine I am more then a little particular about the appearance of my clothes. The Shark is the first iron I have owned that does it all and does it well. The thing is heavy and that helps. It has a very good water capacity and that limits the number of refills needed when working. It heats up fast and has a very powerful blast of steam when needed. It sprays water where I needed it on wrinkles easily. It makes short work of wrinkled cotton khaki's and cotton shirts. The blast of steam is also useful for anything that needs to be steamed such as curtains or whatever. The blast of steam, when held upright goes out about two feet from the iron with considerable force. I recently used it on a wall tapestry that was a little wrinkled our of the shipping box. The cord is much longer then other irons I have used. I have dropped this thing a couple of times. That would have been the end of lesser irons. No problem with the Shark. Great machine! My wife and I do a ton of ironing every day, between a family of 5 and her home business our irons are on pretty much all day. We purchased the "Shark" because we have gone thru quite a few $9 irons and felt we should "invest" in a better iron. The Shark had all the looks and features that we wanted and based on the price thought it would be a very good unit. Our initial thoughts were "this thing is great!" the steam blast was just that - a huge amount of steam! Very comfortable to use with a great handle design and convenient controls, we were sure we had finally found our iron for life, and if we died in 6 months, would have, but the iron beat us to it! One morning it just didn't wake up - Dead! Don't waste your money - we might shop for an even higher end product, but for now we use (2) $20 GE irons that have lasted twice as long for less money! Read more

They always say that you get what you pay for but not in this case. My husband and I do a lot of ironing so we thought that getting a higher quality iron would probably be a wise chose so we purchased this iron and in less than a year it started spitting water out and was staining clothes so we took it back and Sears was great about taking it back and exchanging it we figured that it was just a fluke on that one and we got the same kind and not 6 months later I went to iron my clothes and it would not turn on after trying several times to unplug and turn on we once again took the iron back to Sears which once again they were wonderful about taking the iron back but this time we exchaged it for a different name brand and a little cheaper version and so far it is working fine Read more

I purchased the iron because of the look and the features it has. I thought the iron was expensive but I iron alot and thought it would be worth it for a good iron. But like "Goat Owner" I went to use my iron one morning after about a year and it was just DEAD. Tried everything to get it to work, never did. So silly me thought a new one would be better and could not possibly have the same problem. This one lasted about 15 months and it kept turning itself off. It turns out that the cord at the base of the iron has a short in it so it goes on and off at will. Won't stay on long enough to iron a sleeve of a shirt. Needless to say I dumped it and bought another brand much cheaper and so far so good. Too expensive for performance. Read more
