I will be returning this worthless air conditioner today. Had to buy a portable, as I have crank out windows.Bought this for a tiny 9x7 bedroom that I use as home office. I thought 10,000 btu would be more than enough. Not so with this unit! On it's BEST day, in 2 1/2 hours on high, it cooled the small room 4 degrees, then the temp started to climb again! Also, the unit leaks or drips water, as the rug below the unit is wet.Very disappointed in[...]t for selling me a piece of junk like this. Maybe I need to shop at a better store, that doesn't market any piece of junk that they can get cheap. Save yourself time & aggravation: don't buy this unit. Read more

It is used to cool a bedroom does a fairly good job.
I have noticed if you use the drain hose in the cooling mode using a container to collect water. It is easier on the air conditioner and compressor however you would have to monitor how fast the water fills the container. I bought a large water collection container for the ac.
Seems to cool only in an area such as a room will not cool an entire apartment. Just room by room basis. Easy to install may have to customize or modify some parts to work for the window you are using. Cooling a 160 sq ft room changed the temp about by about 11-15 degrees in about 2-3 hours (with the door open) also reduced the humidity in the room. Tomorrow will test again outside temp will be 88 f. I think the product will last long if proper maintenance if followed. (cleaning air filter and draining unit on schedule etc) If you have a room will high ceilings get a unit with more btu's then recommended for the room. Read more

I've always had window AC's, but my new house has all crank-out windows and exhaust ports for previous owner's portable units. I was frustrated by the paucity of reviews of portable AC's but the price was right on this 10000 BTU unit, and the heat wave was on, so I bought two. It cools my 265 sq ft living room fine, and more. The one in my 180 sq ft bedroom doesn't seem to cool as quickly for some unknown reason, but eventually does get the room cool. They're not super quiet (I don't hear my gf snore so much, though, so that's a good thing), and I don't think they are inherintly as efficient as window units, given that they sit in the room and generate heat that window units would put outside. I like the timer functions. You can direct the flow of air to some extent. It's not unattractive. They want you to drain it from the bottom drain plug every week, so plan on leaving it up on blocks or a platform and having a shallow bucket to drain 2-3 gallons of water into. There are other ways

I have a 1950's cape cod, with awning style windows and almost no insulation in the roof. Needless to say, it gets HOT. With my central air running, keeping the downstairs @ 72 degrees, my upstairs would be in the mid 80's. I needed a solution that could vent to my knee wall, and this was it - I bought it last summer, during the 10% off sale, and have never been so happy with a purchase.
When I go to bed at night, I turn the unit on while I am getting ready -- in the 15 minutes that it takes to do my nighttime rituals, it cools the room by about 5 degrees, and by the time I am ready to sleep, it is perfect --- takes about a half an hour to cool my 14 x 15 pitched roof room by 10 degrees.
I am thinking that perhaps the folks that had issues are dealing with a couple things --- this unit does require either the release of water (into a bucket - I've never had to do this, but it's in the manual) OR the addition of water to function. It's been a while since I installed it, but I remember s

I bought this unit and was very disappointed. I used it for a room that is 12 x 14 (168 square feet). So a 10,000 BTU unit should have gotten this room ice cold. What a disappointment. The unit ran full time, and struggled just to keep the room at about 85 degrees, when the outside temp was about 92 degrees. I live in South Florida, and during this time of summer the outside temp is in the mid-90's, and humidity is high. This unit does not cool under those conditions. I guess if you live somewhere with lower outside tempatures and low humidity, then the unit probably works okay. But if you live in a high tempurature and high humidity area, then forget about buying this unit. Also, the unit is very loud, I can't imagine trying to sleep with the unit running, because of the noise level. Also, the single hose design is not any good by today's standards. Because it has to draw in air from the room to cool the condenser, then blows it out the window. The two hose units are much better, beca
