I can't recommend this freezer because it just stopped working after 1 year of use. A service call to have it fixed would cost nearly as much as buying a new one. Stay away from Magic Chef brand! Read more

I bought this freezer for my garage because I like to shop at the warehouse stores and not worry about having to squeeze everything into my side by side freezer. After only a couple of months, the rubber seal began to grow black mold. I tried everything to get it off and it wouldnt work. Then just after two and a half years.....I went to grab some chicken and it was already defrosted!! Luckily I caught it before everything went bad!! A word to the wise, keep your receipts, according to the appliance repair guy it is the compressor and although there is only a one year warranty, there is a five year warranty on the compressor. However, you need to have the original receipt in order to verify the date purchase!! I dont, so I have to buy a new one, this time with the service plan from another store!! This is the second Magic Chef product I've purchased that has been a major disappointment, the other was a compact refrigerator. This chest freezer worked for about a year, then I suddenly noticed items inside it were no longer frozen. I checked with a freezer thermometer, and found the interior temperature was rising every day. And as the previous reviewer stated, it would cost more to get one fixed than to purchase a new one. I purchased this freezer over 2 years ago. I have never, ever had a problem with it. It is in my garage where temps vary from very hot to very cold. This freezer has never missed a beat.
