My wife bought this model for me for my birthday. I used it happily for 2 years until it just stopped working one day. I called Magic Chef to find out who was authorized to repair it in my area (since my regular repair place told me "they didn't want to mess with it"). The recommended repair company came, looked at it, and diagnosed it as a failed compressor. They also told me the compressor had a 5 year guarantee. After putting two new compressors in it, neither of which worked, they finally gave up trying to repair it and charged me nothing. If you go online you will find Iâ€™m hardly the first person to have this happen; it appears to be a common problem with this unit. Even though itâ€™s an economical unit, I wouldnâ€™t buy it (at least not without an extended warranty which Iâ€™m philosophically opposed to) and would opt for another brand. Good luck! Read more

I loved the look of this unit with the smoked glass and interior light leaves an ambiant look...but, the compressor was loud and at the end of the compressor cycle it made noises that sounded like we had pigeons in our home. It truly sounded like birds were hanging out in our kitchen. Owned it one day and took it back...too bad, really liked the price and looks. I guess you get what you pay for. Read more

This wine cooler is perfect. It looks great, one of the better looking models I have seen and the absolute best at this price point. Very quiet, does a great job of maintaining temperature. I used mine as a built-in that I placed in a custom built cabinet section in my kitchen and it both looks great and functions well this way. The "ambiance" light really makes the cooler stand out and look good when the lights are low or off. Reversible door is also a great option. I recommend highly. Be sure to follow directions with regards to tipping and/or hauling on it's side or upside down, that has the potential to ruin the compressor. Read more

I got this for Christmas and can't say enough good things about it. I was nervous about the comments about it being noisy. THERE WAS NO NEED! It is so quiet I can barely tell when it cycles on and off, and my couch is only about 20 feet from it! Followed ALL recommendations in the manuel to the letter. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Read more
