The unit is reasonably quiet and very easy to setup (read all the directions.) You simply open up your window and put the vent adapter in the window and close the window.

BUT, there are a few issues here.

First of all, it is absolutely horrible at distributing air across a room. I have a studio apartment with approximately 400 sq feet and I cannot seem to get the entire room to cool down. I can get part of the room to cool down, but I needed to use fans to get the air moving around my reasonably small apartment.

The second issue is that the fan runs constantly. The compressor doesn't always run, but the fan does, and that can get annoying. I guess it is good 'white noise' but if you need a silent AC unit that will stop running when it is done cooling you need to look elsewhere.

The third issue is that is that it just isn't designed to 'quickly' cool your room. It even says so in the manual. It is meant to 'gradually' cool your room by pulling as much air as possible through

I needed this ac unit for a sun room, which has glass on two sides. In turn, I bought another ac unit of this type for a studio with a sliding glass door. For the price I paid for each ac, I am disapointed with the ability of the machine to effectively cool the room. The flow of air for this unit is not suffient to disperse cool air through out the room. The cord on the unit is too short. So, I am limmited in where I can put this unti in the room. The hose could also be a touch longer. I had to spend another $70. to buy a fan and a 12ft long extension cord. (I had also spend about another $300.00 in sheers/curtains to help keep the sun out.) However, I do think that this ac unit may be sufficient in rooms with better insulation and few windows. Unfortunately, this ac unit did not meet my needs. If I still had the box, I would return it, and get a window ac. I give it a C rating. Read more

I have owned MANY portable no-name air conditioners; and most of them have never lasted more than one year. The best thing about Whirlpools is they LAST!!!! I won't have to plan on buying another one next year. Read more

We use the air conditioner to cool our bedroom, with the thought that we could move it to the dining room. However, the unit is just too big and bulky, not to mention loud. It does cool the room quite well. The tube to vent the warm air out the window is quite bulky and doesn't fit our window. Installation is much more difficult than you would expect. Read more

Cools my large bedroom quite adequately. I love the remote control option, and the fact that it doubles as a heater. Will save me money in the future when I use it more. Weather has cooled down in CA so haven't used it a lot yet. Read more
