I have this bike for just 2 weeks, but I was able to ride 150 kilometers already.
CONS:
-After about an hour into the ride, the seat becomes uncomfortable.
-There are small black plastic things that support the wires when they jut out of the frame. They are cheap and easily break.
-The handgrips don't stay in place.
PROS:
-I have another Trek commuter bike, an Allant, and the Valencia looks sharper and sleeker.
-700cc wheels make you go faster on the road and the Bontrager tires are durable.
-even if it had disc brakes, I was able to install a regular Topeak Explorer rear rack.
-It's lighter than my mountain bike, a 4300 Disc. Read more

I use this bike for commuting to work and weekend rides with my family. I have been caught in the rain a few times and the disc brakes work great. I love the look and the ride of this bike, great components. I have only had one issue so far and that is the back rim has warped 2 times for what ever reason, not from abuse. Bike is great for what it is designed for. I find it a little on the heavy side compared to other bikes in price range, but still not bad. Over all I give it 2 thumbs up. If you were thinking of getting one, look no more you will love it too! Read more

This bike is excellent. I live in Tucson, which has a huge biking community and is definitely a city where a good bike can take you a long way. This bike delivers exactly what I needed: a tough, light commuter that can handle a number of different surfaces and has the most efficient ride possible.

GOOD:
- Extremely tough. You can hop up or down the occasional curb, cruise over speed bumps, and charge through rough or uneven asphalt. And the ride is surprisingly supple.
- Perfect geometry. I really love how this bike takes cues from mountain biking in terms of geometry. I'm primarily an all mountain rider, so I was worried that this bike would be too different and uncomfortable. But it was a smooth crossover and the geometry of the Valencia lets you ride like a mountain biker. I can really get aggressive and pedal with authority and this bike delivers with no sweat.
- Speed. The Valencia accelerates like an antelope. End of story.

BAD:
- Components. I disliked the stock "swept

Well so far its working out great. Ride 5 days a week min. Still a very comfortable commuter.

Two Issues So Far.

1. Pedals are worthless. Broke after 3 weeks but could go at any time. Change them before you leave the shop.
2. Seat post clamp broke. Cheap Material.

Shifters have not required any adjustment. Tightened the brake cables after significant stretch. Wheels are true and no flats so far and this is after many a curb jump and a pot hole or two and I am over 200lb. Great! Lost 20 lbs in 3 mo. Go buy this. A lot of bike for the buck. Read more

I bought the Valencia for a 12 mile each way commute on busy roads with lots of junctions, traffic lights, some cycle lanes and a city centre crossing. I find the more upright position gives an excellent position in order to observe the traffic and potential threats. The disc brakes are a big confidence boost. It is a little heavier than my normal road bike but overall I have a more relaxing and enjoyable commute.

I found the handlebars too wide and high (22.5 inch size) so lowered them and chopped 1.25inches off each end, much better now although I may try straight bars at some stage.

Installing mudguards was a little tricky as the front brake caliper fouls the normal position for the stays, I was able to bend the stays to fit around it.

The rear brake cable finishes with an upturn at the caliper, this allows rain / water to enter the cable which will require more frequent servicing. A rubber cable end seal should be factory fitted to minimise this problem.
