I have 2 of of these to handle both of my A/V setups (since I have some similar devices ex. 2 Panasonic DVD players) I was able to copy one remote to the other. I've lost (or ruined a remote or 2 in my time - so now the first thing I do is add new components to the RF-20)PROS:If you're a tecni-phobe: the basic setup is as easy as much less competent devices. You'll still have the reward of a remote which has a much more powerful signal than most devices and will rarely need to use original remotes. But even the tech-challenged will find it a piece of cake to simply 'teach' a few commands to the RF-20 using the 'LEARN" function. (For those who've never used a 'learning remote' -- this allows you to add special functions that might not come pre-programmed, or those you wish to cusomize.)For geeks: the Macros (which can contain a pause function) are extremely reliable.The Layout of buttons is extremely logical tho some will find this remote a little large and heavy.There are quite a few … Read more

I use the RF-20 to control 2 DVRs, one VHS recorder, a cable box, a CD player and a TV. It's easy to use and eliminates a lot of clutter. One caution. Before you start to program in commands, watch the included instructional DVD. It will make your life much easier! The lighted panel is not a bright as I would like. Read more

It has an easy-to-follow setup. The guide is clear and concise. However, I have two complaints about the product - the learning feature required me to reprogram every button several times before it "took". But once programmed, it was solid. My other complaint is about the RF receiver. It constantly flickers (the manual says it shouldn't) from interference I can't identify. It renders the RF function useless. I've tried repositioning it all over and it's the same. It's far too sensitive. Luckily the remote itself has an exceptionally strong IR transmitter so the devices in the glass-door cabinet still work with the doors closed. THis was my goal. It just seems a waste I had to buy the useless RF receiver. If I had to do it again, I would buy just the RF20 remote and not the RF receiver add-on. Read more

I still use my MX-850 remote in another room, so I have experience with these remotes. This is replacing my Samsung, Onkyo & cable remotes. Once I got everything programmed, it was a breeze to use. You MUST read the manual carefully so as not to get frustrated along the way! Great in low light situations. After you get this set up, you never have to worry about pointing the remote again. I got mine from B&H Photo, priced very competitively[...] I would highly recommend this remote. Remember to keep your other remotes in a safe place so when you update your components and resell them, the remotes are available. Read more

Easy to use, manual programming makes it a lot easier to program than the competitors. Lack of 1-2 buttons - Some devices has one on/off switch. On the R-20 you have to use on and off separately. Also Could be useful to have a Setup key. Programming takes some time but it's understandable and the bottom line is that this is the best universal remote that I have seen and used and it's pretty close to perfection. Signal range is very good and works through walls. I'm just curious to know how long the 4 AA batteries will last Read more
