The 22124 successfully bridges the huge gap between the shortcomings a of a traditional contractor saw and the overkill and power requirements of a full 3hp industrial cabinet saw. It offers many of the advantages of a big cabinet saw but will run on a standard 110v circuit, and doesn't tax the budget as heavily.
- The Biesemeyer Commercial grade fence is often touted as the number one in the industry. It's the same fence that comes standard on many $1900 Unisaws and $2500 General 650s, and is the most copied design on the market for higher end saws. With the twin 12" cast iron wings, plus a laminated extension table, the usable table surface is nearly 60" wide. The rip capacity is 30" to the right of the blade and 18" to the left in it's stock configuration, but if you don't need that much capacity to the left, it's very simple to slide the rails 10" to the right for a capacity of 40" to the right. The foldup outfeed table is a convenience for supporting longer work pieces.

I bought this saw in October 2006, after much deliberation. It had good reviews from every source I could find, and the combination of features on this hybrid saw are a great value for the money. The HD trunnion assembly is cabinet-mounted like the 3HP cabinet saws out there for more money, but it runs on 110v making it a nice option for a basement shop. It has cast iron extension wings, a nice fold-up outfeed table, decent blade guard, and good capacity with over 13 in front of the blade, 30 right rip capacity (actually about 31.5), 18 left rip capacity, and an AWESOME Beisemeyer Commercial Fence System, which once adjusted, you can set and forget. I can set mine on a measurement desired, rip the board, and not even have to measure as I know its right on. The 1.75 HP motor has plenty of power and it handles sheet stock or hardwood smoothly. The blade arbor had less than 0.001 runout and the arbor flange face runout was also less than 0.001. It passes the nickel test easily (stand a ni

Finally, after 10 years of using a $200 Craftsman saw for furniture, and borrowing friends' saws every now and again, I decided it was time to get a decent saw. Overall, this saw is great, although the factory assembly leaves a lot to be desired and there are a few other minor issues.
Pros:
-Very powerful for a relatively low HP saw. It cannot compete with the 3+ HP monsters, but it does 1" thick oak fairly well, and 3/4" oak very well.
-Quiet, one of the quietest saws I've used.
-The fence is just about perfect.
-Low vibration.
-Easy to align (at least mine was, but some reviewers seem to have found differently).
-The Biesemeyer extension, while cheap wood, can be tossed to give a great place to mount a router table for those of us with space problems.
-Easy to remove blade guard.

Cons:
-The factory assembly was awful, several things, including the blade elevation and tilt mechanisms, were not assembled properly. Looks like someone forgot to tighten all the set screws, the blade elev

The Craftsman 22124 saw has many useful features I wanted: regular 110 volt operation, fully enclosed cabinet for effective sawdust removal, out feed table, quick release guard-splitter assembly, miter gauge clamp-crosscut fence, large cabinet door, wide 18" rip left of blade, Leitz 40T blade, weight close to the 3hp cabinet saws, excellent T-square Fence system, small cabinet footprint, and HD-Cabinet Mounted Trunnions. The industry calls it a "Hybrid"...a cross between the very common light duty contractor saws vs the heft, power and stability of the full size cabinet saws. Make no mistake, this saw is Much closer to it's big brothers than to contractor saws. It shares all the positives of the big cabinet saws without their higher prices or 220v power needs!

It was well packaged, wrapped in a shroud of 1" tubular steel. I used a whole day in assembling the saw, enjoying the process and ensuring that it all went together right. The table was perfectly square to the blade and the fenc

I've had my zipcode saw for about a year now. It replaced the older style Grizzly contractor saw - 1022 which is discontinued. I cannot begin to describe how much of a joy this saw is compared to my previous saw.
As others have mentioned, the fence is top of the line and truly is "set it and forget it". A Biesemeyer by itself is roughly $300. I was just working on planter boxes with my two oldest children and had forgotten how easy this saw is to use and how consistent the results are. I just put the fence at 5" and every piece I ran was 5". I had forgotten what it's like to have to fuss with the fence and make multiple passes in order to get all the pieces the same size.
The saw is packaged well and is very heavy. I had a friend with a pickup truck help me get it home. I took my time with assembly and was able to get it done by myself. Lining up the cast iron wings was tough, but once I was able to start the first bolt in the threads I was good to go.
I do have to mention that the Bie
