Nice Features - Poor Execution

I purchased the Kenmore Elite food processor because I liked the idea of using the multiple disks for a number of functions. On the very first use, pressure build up from food that slipped between the slicing disk and inside top of the cover caused the tab that locks down the plunger shoot to pop off. The spring underneath the tab flew out and was lost. I had to take apart a ball point pen and use the spring to fix the unit so I could continue using it. The next use was to make pumpkin cheesecake. The unit blended the ingredients together beautifully, but after running the chopping blade through the dishwasher twice, it still retained fine particles of pumpkin and spices and an opaque liquid between the metal blades and the plastic stem. This did not seem very sanitary. I became increasingly disappointed with the unit finding the cover difficult to get on and off and food shoot and plunger difficult to clean with the shoot permanently attached to the cover. I finally returned the unit

I had the exact same problem as another reviewer. After only using it for a couple of times, while grating cheese it would NOT TURN OFF!! I debated whether to exchange for another one, but decided not too. I used the processor about 2 times before to chop carrots and potatoes and it did this pretty well. However, the large opening and pusher is not removable from the unit and it difficult to clean because of this. Also, the gap from the top of the cutting disk to the top is pretty large and my carrots and potatoes and cheese would get drawn in under the lid and spin around. (This is when the unit refused to turn off). It's a shame as it came with many cutting discs that on a cuisinart or Kitchenaid are pretty expensive. Read more

I exchanged a Christmas gift for this unit last year and have been extremely disappointed. The bowl/lid are very cumbersome and difficult to lock. I also just recently had the slide switch (locks down the top and engages the on/off switch to run the unit) break. I now have a $150 unit that doesn't work because of a $.02 plastic part. Don't be fooled by the generous 5year warranty; I returned the unit to the store and talked to five different service departments and received no satisfaction. This will be my last Sears purchase. Read more

I wanted a Kitchenaid, but this one came with the french fry blade...and was less costly.

I used it 3 times...did great french fries. Bogged down when grinding meat...probably due to motor not being quite powerful enough.

I took it out yesterday to use it for fries again, and the latch that locks the feeder tube just came off. Apparently, it was just glued on. Very cheaply made there.

We've only had it two weeks...I'm returning it, and getting a Kitchenaid instead. The price difference will be worth the quality. Read more

My wife asked for a kitchenaid, but they didn't have it. I bought this, thinking I was getting her a great gift. This is terrible! The food gets stuck in all the crevices and washing this in the dishwasher is a waste of time. Food and dirt gets trapped in the handle and the food shute. The food loader is not convenient. Doesn't come apart for easy cleaning and doesn't fit in the dishwasher very well. It's very bulky and not worth the money!
I'm sorry I bought this! Read more
