Consider your floor before buying a front loader.

First, it's worth noting that to get the most out of this or any front loading washer, it needs to installed on a very solid floor. I live in an apartment. The building is very old and the laundry room in my apartment has soft linoleum on top of a very old, creaky wood floor. No matter how close to perfectly level the washer is, if your floor vibrates as easily as mine does, you won't be able to use the super fast spin speeds this washer is capable of. It's nice to have five different spin options, but I can't use the speeds above medium on my floor. Medium speed on this washer, however, still spins plenty of water out of my laundry (at least as much as my old washer did). The clothes do not come out soaking wet, but I don't benefit from the reduction in drying time that the faster spin speeds achieve. I absolutely love my LG washer and dryer,I read reviews for months. I almost bought another set until I saw this pair on sale in the store. The rep told me this was a new brand and he didn't think it would stand up and it was loud. I went home without buying anything, did some research and decided to trust the reviews and I am so happy I did. They are so quiet I can't hear them unless I am working in the laundry room. I have NO issues with mold or smells,LG redesigned the door gasket and placed holes for water to drain. I am very pleased I decided to get the pair together as I only needed the dryer at the time. I didn't realize my washer wasn't doing a good job until I saw oh well this one worked. The dryer is huge and the light inside surprised me, it's nice! I do think at these prices the pedestals should be included but they have to get the buck for everything.I have them stacked for now until I decide how I want to set up the laundry room. We have had this washer for 9 months now and I'm glad I waited to write a review. It is easy to be impressed at first, until you start getting the IE error code. There is a part that needs to be replaced (already) which controls the water pressure into the machine. Getting an LG service man to actually show up is NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE. Home Depot doesn't seem exactly interested in making sure our service needs are met either. All they will do is give you the number to LG service and wish you luck. Also, keep in mind this model is a bit smaller than the regular 4.0 cubic foot models - I have not been able to wash my king size comforter in it, which is one of the biggest reasons I bought a front loader. Just something to know - it will go off balance if you try. Same thing for rugs. Have not had the stinky mildew problem so many people complain about, but I always keep the door open between uses. When I went to buy a washer & dryer to replace our faulty top of the line Kenmore, I knew I had to have an LG. While I don't literally do laundry all day, every day like I tell my kids, I do a LOT of laundry and this machine has handled it all. I love the drawer that slides open to put in the detergent, bleach and softener. Initially I was worried that it would get dripped on and become a mess, but it is very easy to take out and clean. It's never needed cleaning, I'm just obsessive. I'm also hard to please, but this washer has performed really well. The controls are very intuitive, the hardware on the door is solid, and it is pretty quiet, even at the incredible RPMs of the spin cycle. I would take off a half star for price, but the other companies make washers at this price that are not the same quality, so FIVE stars it is! Read more

We purchased this machine based specifically on the reviews we read online, for this price range. I have had the washer and dryer for two weeks and love them. They are quiet, look nice, and most of all clean clothes great. They were ordered on Saturday and arrived the next day, Sunday. Unfortunately the washer had a small dent. We called customer service and were offered a $70 gift card or a replacement. We chose the replacement and received the new machine 4 days later. The delivery crew left the first machine for us to use in the mean time. The new washer arrived today and is perfect. This delivery crew was great, and gave us some design ideas as to how to place the machines. We orginally wanted to stack the machines, and when we did, it did not work out right. We have now learned that the door can be ordered with a left or right hinge, and the dryer vent can be ordered for the rear of the machine, the left side or the right side.
