Heavy commute, flawless performance.

I'm a daily bicycle commuter, typically riding 50-100 miles per week. I shop on my bike, take it racing, and do a ton of recreational riding, and I ride in all kinds of weather. I purchased the Armadillo Elites last fall, and I haven't looked back since. I have somewhere around 2,000 miles on them, and I took a moment to inspect the rear this past weekend before a long ride.

I found dozens of cuts, holes and even one spot with a 3mm long piece of broken glass embedded in the tread (yes, it was 3mm deep in the tread, point down). Have I had any flats? Not once. My cuts ranged from 2mm to 12mm long, and I was shocked that the tire was still in one piece. I ride quite aggressively, and I've never had the tire run wide or slide out on me.

In the 7 years I've been running armadillo tires on 4 bikes, I've never had one flat. As an additional bonus, they lose air a lot more slowly than a typical tire. They receive my highest recommendation. Read more

I had read this tire reduces your speed. I probably lost three-fourths of a mile per hour with Armadillos, but speed is not my objective. The protective band is only so wide. It is possible for a goat's head thorn to puncture the tire just a bit to one side or the other of the band. Overall, I am very happy with my Armadillos. Read more

I live in Phoenix, Arizona and ride about 4000 miles/year. I got tired of changing flats on almost every ride (bullhead thorns). Since I've put the Armadillo Elite tires on my bike I have had only 1 flat in the past 1000 miles. They are awesome. Read more

I have used Armidillos for 5 years in the UK for winter training and commuting and 3 years on the Peninsula. The Elites are much lighter and have a better feel than the originals.
I did around 12 to 15,000 miles on my last pair and only punctured twice; once with a 2 inch nail and once with a dry-wall screw. A very reliable tire! Ideal for when it's dark, wet and cold and you don't want to stop to change a tube. Read more

I commute through Hollywood and Los Angeles. I constantly ride through glass and debris, not by choice (if you've been to Hollywood you know how dirty it is), and I've never had a flat in over 2000 miles of riding. If you ride in the city these are the best!!! Read more
