This is a wonderful kit for the DIY'er. The instructions were very simple to follow and even included a few tips to prevent common mistakes. It contained everything I needed, minus the copper tubing and compression fitting that connect the ice maker to the water supply. I was able to get these parts at the hardware store for less than $10 (they had some leftover tubing lying around).

I did have an issue with the electronic valve assembly, because I had a major leak whenever it sent water to the ice tray. After taking the valve off, it turned out the plastic tubing that connects the valve to the inlet tube wasn't pushed in all the way. This also caused the finished cubes to be very small, unsurprisingly. I was able to push the tubing in another 1/4 inch or so, and now it works great! It's noisy, but only for a few seconds when the ice is finished and another batch is starting (every couple of hours). Well worth the time and expense if you own a compatible refrigerator. Read more

This ice maker kit is pretty inexpensive (ABT had the best price I could find). The kit works fine now that it is installed. I haven't had any problems yet (It's been 3 weeks). My only complaint is that you have to screw items onto the back of the freezer, which means you have to get the screws through hard material. I would have appreciated a screw that accepted philips heads or another form of socket that wasn't easy to lose grip on. The flat head only approach was a pain! Read more

Grew up without an ice maker and still wasn't convinced that we needed one when we bought our refrigerator several years ago(particularily since I'd had one too many smelly, freeze dried ice cubes from other people's refrigerators in the past). However my husband's job relocated into our home and away from the office ice maker so we purchased and installed this one. It was easy to put in, works great, keeps up with his demand for ice and as it turns out it is handy to have around. Read more

Installed it into my refrigerator which had never had an ice maker before, but was "icemaker ready". Directions were clear, install was very quick and easier than expected. Only minor difficulty was in running a plumbing line from existing pipes under the sink over to the refrigerator, but that's not the icemaker's fault; it's due to the unique layout of my kitchen, its cabinets, and existing plumbing. Read more

This ice maker was priced one-third lower than the next lowest price I found on line, and half of the highest price. [...] Installation instructions were clear and concise, and I installed the ice maker myself in less than an hour. The only hitch was that I have a drawer type lower freezer and needed to remove the freezer door; it would have been impossible to install with the door in place, but this was not a problem. I will definitely deal with this company again. Read more
