This amp has a nice clean yet powerful sound, as well as the newest 5.1 dolby, pro logic, and DTS features. It also has DSP sound fields to enhance music or movies to sound like you are in a club or theater. I previously had a Sony DE698 (7.1, 630 watts), that had more settings and features. However, its design was much more bland, the interface was terrible, and the sound wasn't quite as clean as the yamaha (it shorted out in 1 month). All in all , the yamaha is a very good deal.
