I purchased this a few days ago to Skype with friends, family and co-workers. At first I was a bit skeptical with the branding (Dynex) but the price was easier to stomach than the crazy cost of the other brands out there. I really, really like this little web cam. It's picture quality (still) is okay, but where it really shines is in the video- great color, great white balance...not expected at all. For the price, get one and give it a try! I gave it 4 stars because I wish that Dynex had thrown in a cheap case... Read more

I am using the Webcam with Windows XP and Skype. I bought the Dynex which is BestBuy's store brand because I have been impressed with Dynex's quality with other products that I have purchased. The Dynex Webcam has better specs (frame rate, resolution, face recognition, auto exposure) than most of the other cams selling at twice the price.

The webcam was easy to setup and integrated well with Skype. However, the image was very choppy both in Skype and when using Dynex's software. Using the Dynex software, I was able to display the Frame Rate which was running at about 10 frames per second (FPS) which is much less than the 30 FPS the camera is capable of. In order to get rid of the choppiness, I had to turn off the face recognition and the auto exposure and drop the resolution to 800 X 600.

I purchased the Dynex because of the price and the features but wasn't able to use the advanced features because of the choppy image trade-off. However, it is still a good webcam for the price and I

Excellent webcam for the price

As a disclaimer, this is the first webcam I've purchased in over 10 years, so I was very behind the times with webcam technology. But what a quantam leap from the old dinosaur I had! The video quality and responsiveness is incredible, almost no delay or "flipcarding" where it looks like a flip card of still images instead of steady stream video. I was even more impressed with how well the microphone picked up sound. It's not Bluetooth pure or anything, but for this price point it's quite sufficient. The software and drivers are clean and simple. Excellent product for the money!

NOTE: One thing to keep in mind with video captures - the AVI format is a disk space hog, so hopefully you've got ample GB of space free to save the files. My HP PC came pre-loaded with PowerDirector which I upgraded for 50 bucks - it enables you to convert the video to a much more manageable size very easily. Read more

I have 3 of these now. Great for Skype, but really shines for voice in games. The directional pickup is very impressive for a $40 web cam. I play a lot of shooters where you need team communication and it doesn't pick up any feedback from my speakers, which are situated right below the mic. Even if my wife is playing music right next to me nobody else can hear it. This is absolutely a must purchase if you are in need of a pc mic.

I don't have any feedback problems except on my laptop. I think the exhaust vent points up on it and is probably blowing air across the mic, so I tend to have to move it around a bit to get it stop.

The camera has a little stand on it with a rubber foot that fits fine on my desktops but I have to kind of pinch it onto my laptop to get it to stay. Once it's setup it's not an issue but it is kind of a pain.

Setup is a snap, just pop in the CD, then plug in the camera when it tells you, restart when it tells you to, end of story.

Overall I'd say that if you w
