First I have to say that this is an excellent washing machine. Second I need to caution you before you buy it that 1. You need a solid floor (IE. concrete) below this machine. The reason is that the spin cycle is lighting quick. The manual states you should reinforce the floor below this machine, but by the time you read that you already own the washer. If you live in an apartment the people below you will freak. Luckily I have a tiled cement floor in my laundry room. 2. This machine only uses HE detergent to reduce sudsing. You can not use regular detergent. 3. The first time you use this machine you are going to think it is broken. It uses very little water and looks like it isn't washing the clothing. 4. It takes 55 minutes to do a large load. All that being said, you will save a lot of money on water, and this machine only uses $9 of electricity a year. Clothes come out very clean, almost dry (spin cycle) and are not beaten up like in old machines. "Green" it is ! Read more

Once you enter into the jungle of front loading washers and dryers picking one out that fits all your needs plus is reliable and "affordable" is not easy. Our search included all the major brands. We opted for getting the most reliable one that did everything we wanted and bit the bullet as far as price was concerned - it is competitive to the other upper end products but it is still an expensive (but worth it) purchase. The Samsung really hits 5 stars in regards to easy & intuitive controls, quiet operation and feature rich design. It gives you a feeling of quality in how it looks works and operates (right down to the cute chime signals). Clothes come out clean and smelling fresh. Very reasonable wash times. The load capacity of this washer is amazing. We also bought the matching Dryer. They work great together. I have had this washer, the matching dryer, and two pedestals for about two weeks. Everything went smoothly, from time of purchase, through delivery, and catching up with a couple of weeks of accumulated laundry. I tried to be very careful, reading reviews of many machines, and think that, while maybe I would have been just as happy with some of the others, these machines are fantastic! I haven't used all of the features yet, I am still being very entertained with being able to wash more and get it all done better and faster. I've even washed every blanket and comforter in the house. I replaced a 20 year old Kenmore pair that finally had both broken at the same time. What a marvelous change. I can't believe how much cleaner my end product is. I guess that we have been wearing slightly unclean clothes for a while. I bought this and the matching dryer about two months ago from Sears when they had a screaming 2-day sale, so I've some experience with it. Previously I had balked at the price, but with the sale and promos, I could justify making the purchase and buying the stands. The stands are spendy but worth the convenience. The installer pointed out to me the machines actually bolt to the stands, which is not the case with other makes. The new machines replaced a very basic pair of 6-year old Maytags. The laundry room is on the main floor of a wood frame house, above a crawlspace, and has a ceramic tile floor, so noise and vibration reverberate through the house. This was my biggest complaint with the Maytags. I bought this Samsung for its reputed lack of noise and vibration. It has surpassed my expectations. This washer and dryer combo are fantastic for upper floor bedrooms with w/d room. The washer doesn't vibrate with the Samsung VRT and I really wanted a steam washer too so I was glad I waited since prior to this only LG and Whirlpool Duet had that feature that I know about... The Silver ion technology keeps "fungus amongus" smells down from the dark towels without using bleach or much soap. The extra hot feature really gets out sweat stains and can even get old spots clean, esp. on white clothes... I am very pleased so far and we again got a match price discount for 400 dollars or 200 for the washer and dryer each. The stands were a little expensive but we wanted the extra height to decrease bending over too much... Read more
