Very Nice Tripod

I received this tripod last week and have run it through all of the typical setups. It's camera tube is useful for switching from vertical to horizontal. I installed a Really Right Stuff BH-55 Ballhead and can shoot vertically down or anywhere in between. It's rock solid stable. I compared this pod to many Gitzo, Manfroto, Slik and others. I believe its most comparable in quality to the Gitzo models. The 8X carbon fiber legs and camera tube are very strong and smooth. The twist leg locks are nearly identical to my Gizto GM-2540 monopod. All lock smoothly. The camera tube has high quality composite knobs. It require a little torque to lock in position but does so well. The bottom of the tube has a weight bag hook installed. It comes supplied with a two tone grey and red padded case with handles and shoulder strap. Nice quality. Also a tool kit pouch is provided with steel spikes and wrench, plus an allen wrench to secure your head from loosening with 4 set screws on bottom of camera moun

My Giottos lava tripod busted when I tightened the leg. Yup cracked big time. Stay away from Basalt lava tripods. Light but brittle.
I needed a light but sturdy tripod to replace it. One that fit on my camera backpack while I go trudging through the desert and canyons.

As I just got this I can see it has great construction and great quality. The center column design is a fantastic feature. If you are always seaching for the cool angle or find it difficult to close in for macros. It will surely help in that. It says it's good for 17Lbs but i'm sure it can handle way more.

It handles my 1D Mark III nicely. Read more
