We live in the UP of Michigan, so there isn't much need for it here because there isn't much in the UP...haha, but my family lives in Racine/Kenosha, wi. (about 8 hours away) we wanted to stop at the apple store in Milwaukee-punched the address in and it took us right there, we even got lost for a little bit, because of construction but the gps got us right back on the roads we needed to be on. On our way back home we decided to go through Chicago to do some sight seeing. the gps did a good job on that also, it had the sears tower, shedd aquarium, harpo studios and almost anything else you wanted to see there! it was great! we then made our way through Indiana, and then back into Michigan. It did a great job letting us know when the toll roads were coming up and what roads to stay on. this is Defintaly a good buy and very compact so it does not get in your way! We plan to do some more traveling also, this comes in handy because when you are in an unfamiliar place and just want to get a

This is the first GPS I've ever owned. My primary exposure to GPS devices has been the Magellan devices that frequently show up in [...] rental cars. I've always found them a little clunky, but since they are in a rental car, I typically don't care.Recently I decided I'd like to get a GPS myself. I tend to be a frugal late adopter, who prefers no frills to a ton a features that I'll use once and then forget about. The Nuvi 2xx line suits me perfectly. The prices had just been lowered, so all-in-all, I walked out the door with a GPS unit, for under $220. Not bad!The one niggling annoyance came up that upon arrival to a new city by plane, I'd set up the 200 in my rental car, and it seemed to take a long long time for it to acquire the satellite in the new location. At least two minutes. Seems a bit long to me, but not enough that I wouldn't recommend it.But here's the deal. I travel...a lot. I travel all over the world. I'm also planning to move to Europe, where my job will take me all o

Easy, simple, nearly foolproof. Manual & help are in the unit. Fits in shirt pocket. Very accurate. If you miss a turn or have to detour it recalculates a new route in seconds and has you on your way. I will never travel in another city or in an unknown area in my city without it. Seems to have even the smallest roads in it. Will take you through a shopping center. Be careful where you mount the mounting disk for the suction mount to grab. I mounted it on the dash of one car and it had the sun shining on the screen when we drove southward. I checked it out with the car facing north when I mounted the disk. Disk is semipermanent. Get an AC adaptor made to plug the DC power cord into so you can re-charge in your home or hotel room before or during trips. Battery life is 4 to 5 hours, depending on how bright you have the screen and volume of the voice. You can keep it charged in the car, but I like to unplug it and keep it in my pocket. I like this because it does everything I want. I don

I love this thing. I have rented cars with Hertz Neverlost in the past, but no more. This device was ready to go right out of the box and aquired the satellites immediately. It also recomputed directions very quickly whenevver I missed a turn. It does not say the streets, but who cares...it shows the street name on the top and gives the distance to the turn below. I really liked how it gave an estimated time of arrival. Worked very well for going from Phoenix to SanDiego. Once in San Diego, we found the beaches and restaurants within minutes and even had a phone number if we needed it. Read more

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 300 for twice the amount of Nuvi 200. I liked that it was the most compact GPS I've seen. I also thought I would need all the features such as BlueTooth, MP3 player etc. But I exchanged it 3 weeks later for the Nuvi 200. Same compact frame and map display. So it doesn't have the Bluetooth & MP3 player. That's what my iPod and BT headset is for. And yes, it doesn't have the selection of Male or Female voices with the French, British, Australian accents...but who cares. Couldn't understand them anyway. [...] The only real difference is the Text to Speech. But the streets are clearly displayed on top of the screen. If that's really important to you and worth [$] more, then I'd get the Garmin Nuvi 300. Otherwise the Nuvi 200 is an excellent choice. Read more
