Alright, this is my first REAL telescope, After some research, I decided to go with an 8" Dob. I am very much satisfied with my purchase. [...] Setup was roughly 30 minutes. I was able to see the surface of the moon in crisp, clear detail. I was also able to see the orion nebula, it was quite breathtaking. A week later I also purchased the Zhumell 1.25 eyepiece and filter kit. With the 6mm and barlow, was able to easilly see Saturn, The Cassini Division, and several of her moons. The base leaves a lot to be desired. I am not a big fan of particleboard. It was also too low to the ground, and leaning over to view things gets old really fast. Not really a big deal though as it was easy to make a similar base using the old one as a pattern, 12" taller out of 3/4" plywood. Then I just used the same bearings. It works great now, and was even a fun modification to create. This scope is a deal, jump on it. Read more

Well this was my first telescope purchase and use. Upon receiving the package I immediately tackled the assembly. The manual, as many other people have said, appears to be for an earlier model of this telescope. However, I didn't even receive a manual in the package I had to use the one supplied by this website. That was a downer but I have never used a telescope before and I got it figured out so it really wasn't too much of a big deal. I got it collimated within 5-10 minutes, the laser collimation was really nice. The dual Crayford focuser works really nice when the telescope is starigh up and down(perpendicular to the ground) but upon tipping it to aim at the moon i had to do it by hand. Not a big deal but a little annoying. Within 20-30 minutes of initial viewing I had an absolutley amazing image of the moon. The 9mm Plossl was great for this. The 30mm was nice too, a much broader view of the whole thing. I also got a beautiful crystal clear image of Jupiter with the 9mm. FIRST TIM

This is the second telescope i have ever had and i am very very pleased with it. the first time i used it i got an exceptional view of the moon, it comes with a nice moon filter that really helps to show the details. I was also able to find Jupiter quite quickly. Jupiter looks good through the 9mm (i can see two cloud bands and all four moons) but i would suggest getting a higher power or a barlow lens if you want a larger view.
the main downfall is the fact that you have to give it a bump every few seconds to stay on track with what you're viewing. no motor drive... so don't expect to do any awesome photography with it (i took a pic of the moon anyway, but it took a good 12 shots to get a decent one.) You can find equatorial mounts (motor drives that the entire scope sits on top of) around the internet, they can be pricy though.
the spotter scope it comes with is pretty nice, it takes a bit of twisting to get it to focus on the stars... and when you get it focused the cr

The quality of this telescope was way beyond what I was expecting for the money. It's very sturdy and comes with everything you need to get up and running. It's not the lightest 'scope out there, but the images make up for the lack of portability. Once glitch: the laser collimator died during first use. One email to Zhumell and they sent me out a replacement right away, and didn't make me send back the bad one first (or at all, for that matter).

Great unit and unbelievable price. I'm hooked with this one. This is my first telescope and I'm really looking forward to clearer skies around here so I can get to some serious stargazing. Read more

For the money this light bucket( telescope ) is like winning the lotto but your payout is the sights of a life time! this kit came with more than I expected to include the primary cooling fan! which is a good deal not to mention the free green laser pointer. the supplied eye pieces are GREAT! the 32 MM is a massive 2 inch eye piece with crisp clean pictures and the supplied 9MM takes you close up. Ive seen DSO's ( deep space objects) and craters on the moon. My only complaint is A rather easy one to fix. and that is my back hurts from being hunched over so long! This product here is better than your Orion the clutch system used from your ALT adjustment is Wonders over the mean forceful spring system! Over all. Great product! Got here fast in good condition, easy to set up, And plenty of tools to get out and see the space like never before! Read more
