I originally went to buy a Samsung or Dell 22" widescreen monitor. I walked out with a Samsung but, when I took it out of the box, there were loose parts rattling around inside the monitor. I returned it and walked out with the AOC 2217V for only [$]. I had my doubts about such a cheap 22" monitor, but thought I'd give it a try.I turned off my Windows XP system, plugged in the analog cable and power cord, turned on the monitor and then my computer. Windows recognized the AOC automatically and I had to do nothing...true plug and play. I then installed the autoplay CD which provides drivers, if needed, instructions and a utility which allows you to fine tune the monitor without using the small adjustment buttons on the front of the unit. Since Windows recognized the monitor and showed it was working properly, I did not install any additional drivers. AOC's CD says you only need the drivers if Windows indicates a problem. The instruction CD says that the ideal resolution for this mo

I've used AOC products for years in Canada but they are only just arriving in the US. I spotted this deal and bought it, took it home, hooked up and adjusted it in minutes. The monitor looks great, colors are sharp and crisp, if even too bright at times. No dead pixels, the PC recognized it right away. The only thing I'm not fond of is the questionable quality of the control button on the screen. If something should let go, that will be it. Another advantage is that this monitor accepts an ANALOG signal as well as a digital one. My PC is 4 years old, and does not have a digital video card. I saved myself [$] by not having to get a new video card for my PC. I may buy one later, but for the moment, what I do with it does not require large amounts of time in rendering the screen, and I don't need perfection in the image. I just needed more screen realestate than I had.For the price, there is nothing out there that compares. I would have spent $275 to $350 PLUS another $125+ on

Great Monitor!

I own a photo studio and have been using crt's for image critical work but I'm down to three that still work and they are not going to last much longer. I've not been impressed by any of my lcd's (most of which cost less than $300) for image work so I have only used them for dual monitor setups along with crt's.

I have a small older AOC monitor and always liked it's quality, so when I saw these on sale I took a look. Bought one to try out and was sold after I calibrated it for photo use, so I bought a second unit.

The color gamut these monitors produce is only slighty less than a high end 10bit 22" monitor at ten times the cost, and the gamut is still more than what the photo lab can print.

The only flaw is a slight backlight leak around the edge of the screen that can only be seen when the screen is all black in a dark room, but it's minor and the rest of the screen area is even enough (even my high end crt's are a little uneven). Read more

I couldn't pass this deal up. The quality is very good, with the exception of a dead pixel and some noticeable flickering with certain background colors. Color is excellent and bright. Clarity is very good. Setup was easy. The power button seems a little flimsy, but overall the design is attractive. Comes with a 3-yr parts and labor warranty - which is nice (hopefully I won't need it). Read more

I went in to Staples to buy something else. [...] I couldn't pass it up!Brought it home, plugged it in, and it looks and works great. I don't know why some previous reviewer wished there was instructions on how to hook it up. How hard is it to understand how to plug two cables in? One for power and one for VGA or DVI. Then you pop in the disc and install the software. No instructions needed, although they do have some on the CD.Picture is nice and bright. Response time is good even in my video games. No dead pixels.I only have two complaints:1 - The controls aren't the greatest. I'm a man and I guess I have manly fingers, so I sometimes get frustrated when pressing the controls and hit the wrong thing. Oh well, it's all setup now so I don't need to touch it again.2 - The driver that it comes with works fine. I thought I'd go to their website to see if they have a newer driver. The one that came with the monitor shows a number such as 1.0.0.0 with a release date of 2005, but the website
