Love it so much I have two

This review is being posted after 7 months of ownership. I moved to digital TV this past winter. The worst thing about going to a nice TV was it made my other TVs show their age. So I treated myself to more than one. I bought a total of 4 different brands thinking that I would have a REALLY nice TV in my living room and something less spectacular in my bedroom. I ended up returning a more expensive TV to get a second Phillips because the Phillips looked and sounded better side by side. Others smarter than I may talk about technical specs that make this an inferior TV. I am not interested in that debate. I know which one looked best when I had them side-by-side in my home. Watching blu ray movies is nothing less than awesome (when you get a GREAT movie recorded in blu ray.) FYI, I looked mostly at 120Hz LCDs, but did try one plasma TV. Philips 52PFL7403D/27 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTVI've chose Phillips LCD TV because I think Sony and Samsung are making its products overprized by brand name. I liked a technical data reported on Phillips site for this TV. Can not find any artifacts on the screen of this breathtaking device! Perfect Pixel works well. Strongly recommend anyone who wants good 52'' machine. My son is very picky but he couldn't say anything bad about quality of this product. It's amaizing 3D effect that you can get sometimes. If you want to upgrade your TV on the cheap, than you can get away with spending relatively little for this set. You will, however, get a fairly dumbed down TV with half-*ssed technology. I had the most problems with the "Pixel Perfect HD" feature, which uses aggressive edge enhancement... to the point that it creates excessive halo-ing and artifacting. It becomes a hit or miss with picture clarity, and ends up suffering the most with fast motion, or heavy details. The Automatic ratio recognition is also pretty lousy, and the overall speed at which the set can decode signals is annoyingly laggy. If you're the type of person who just wants a big TV and don't have a discerning eye, than you should do fine with this set. Otherwise, spend the money for something better. Read more

We bought a Philips 32" Flat screen & loved it. So when we were looking for a new 52" for the living room, we knew Philips was a great brand to go with. We also knew that we needed to buy a screen that had a matt finish to it, & this one did (even though it does not list it in it's description, it does have a MATT FINISH SCREEN, for those who don't like a glare from the sunlight or in-house lighting). The picture is "brilliant with color" & the sound is just "ok", until we can afford a surround sound system to hook up to it, we'll just have to deal with it. Only reason we gave it 4 1/2 stars is b/c of the sound quality isn't the best. Overall, great buy for the money!!!! Read more
