I have used the VL-3 on all three of my GL-2 cameras for 2-3 years. I never take them off. It is just enough fill light for dim lit areas. The only thing that gave me a problem on two of them, after 2 years of service, my audio on my GL-2 would cut in and out. After sending my cameras in for service with no fix, I stumbled across the problem was the switch on the VL-3 somehow when turned on, would interfere with the audio.

Not a very good on camera light. It is alright but doesn't do much at all (only 3 Watts) and is barely better than my HV30's onboard light. If I ever were to use it, however, I would not (with my current setup) be able to with my Rode VideoMic at the time time as there is only one hotshoe. My advice to you is that if you seriously want an on-camera light, go for a more expensive and powerful model. Read more

An excellent camera mounted light. Not to bright to be blinding, but just enough fill with some side lighting to get the perfect shot. Not the light for the Videographer who wants to shoot the entire room or a long distance group shot. But then it's size give that away to begin with. It does what it size, value and wattage indicates. For those uses it is perfect. Read more

Product works just like it's described. Hook it up to the hot shoe, turn on the camera, set the light to 'Auto' or 'On' and give it a go!
I use it on a Canon GL2. It is a very bright, almost harsh light 3-6ft in distance. I found that in very low lit areas, the light does not bring out great detail in metallic objects. This light is great though if you are just shooting close-ups of people say in a bar. Read more

Light, small-sized light that works perfectly with my Canon GL-2 video camera. It draws power from the camera itself, so there's no need to buy extra batteries. The light is bright enough to light up a person's face in a dim room, which works great for candid interviews and close-up shots, but may not be bright enough to cover the entire room. Read more
