I had a Whirlpool portable for over 20 years and it still worked fine, it was getting ugly and beat up which prompted the purchase of this new Maytag, December 10th, 2008. It took a bit of getting used to, the racks are so different and the silverware holder is in the bottom rack, the Whirlpool had it in the door, which I prefer. I find that the hoses are longer on the new Maytag, which I prefer and it is a bit quieter. It runs for almost 2 hours on the "normal" setting. I had to have a service call recently (before it was a month old) due to a horrible noise, turns out one of the little grips from a cutting board got into the disposal portion and that was causing the noise, the repair man said the length of run time is perfectly normal as it is very energy efficient and it will run for a long time. I've known that Maytag was one of the better reasonably priced dishwashers on the market for some time. I've also known that the portable Maytag was probably the quietest portable on the market. The night that we hooked up our older dishwasher when we went to bed was the last straw. It was so LOUD, I couldn't sleep. I looked at the specs for the different portables, and when the Maytag went on sale I decided to pounce. It is amazingly quiet for a portable. I like the fact that it has 3 spray arms and no tower. The water shoots jets on 4 different levels and the dishes are really clean. You really don't have to pre-rinse the dishes. We stored the dirty dishes in the dishwasher for 2 days to get a full load. The dried, caked up crud disappeared in the dishwasher. I also like the sanitze cycle. We have 10 grandkids. Maybe by sanitizing the dishes, it will help keep them healthy in some small way. I purchased this online about 2 months ago. I have used it every day since purchase. I was hesitant about buying a portable dishwasher but since I was sick and tired of washing dishes by hand I decided to give it a try. AND I LOVE IT!!! I WILL ALWAYS HAVE A DISHWASHER! This is great for people with small kitchens. It is not too noisy. It is very easy to hook up to the kitchen faucet. It connects like a quick connect garden hose. It washes the dishes well. I have not had to rinse the dishes off. I only rinse off the spaghetti sauce so it will stay pretty and white inside (just a personsal preference for me), I have not had any problems with it. It is true a dishwasher uses less water than washing by hand which is better for the environment. You will not be sorry. Buy one. Read more

I have used this machine for several years and had no mechanical problems. All I want a dishwasher to do is get the dishes clean, and this does that very well. I have a few minor complaints. It is a louder than a built-in dishwasher, although quieter than another portable I had once. I usually run the dishes at night to keep from hearing it in my small apartment. The bottom rack is not as well designed as some dishwashers. Also, the pressure in the line made a fixture leak that had one handle rather than two for the hot and cold water. I have had no problems hooking it to traditional faucets. However, overall, it cleans the dishes well, is relatively inexpensive to run, and has several settings depending on how dirty the dishes are or to help you conserve energy. I love everything about this dishwasher. I will addmitt it was not my first choice but I am very happy with this one. I have 4 little boys, a dog and my husband so I'm really supper busy and not having to wash dishes by hand any more is great. I thought however I would have to rinse or prewash dishes and I don't even have to do that. I scrape of chunkes and heavey soils and put them in and out they come clean. I have not had to rewash a singal dish. I really like the Hi temp wash, the heated dry and the san itize with having small children I know heat kills germes and hopefully will help me keep my kids healthy. I would deffinatly reccomend to anybody. Read more
