Have had the cooktop for just barely a year and enjoyed cooking on it. Up until today we would have happily recomended this cooktop. Today we noticed that the rubber feet, which are glued into the burner grates, are falling off, causing the heavy grate to scratch the stainless steel cooktop. KitchenAid customer service offered to send us two as a "one time courtesy". So what happens as more of the rubber feet fall off, we ask? We are prepared to BUY a set of rubber grommet feet. [...] Hello! KitchenAid put them on a cooktop! Did anybody at KitchenAid clue in the designers and engineers that this is a cooktop??? It gets hot if used. We expected to be using this cooktop for at least ten years. Now we anticipate having an ongoing maintenance nightmare for the rest of the ten or so years we own this. (If it lasts that long.) Let me be honest. If you buy this stovetop and you don't vent it properly, you are in for a rude awakening. It gets incredibly hot. So hot the cast iron grill grates are discoloring and the rubber feet on them melt off and scratch the stainless surface. The largest burner- front left gets your pans so hot the handles are discoloring. It is a pain to clean, and the stainless is very easily scratched. The control knobs are very cheap and are showing wear after only six months. This is a builders special. I'd steer clear. Truthfully, I'm wondering what has happened to Kitchenaid period. Read more
