Our Roomba is almost Family Member now!

My Roomba is so effective we call him "Robby" (it suits "him" somehow ;-). I had been mulling over getting a Roomba for about a year and found a remanufactured 410 model for a good price. "Robby" cleans my laminate & carpet floors very effectively. I own two very hairy dogs who shed alot and all my other vacuums never did well with pet hair. Robby's bin filled three times the first day I used him but after that he got into all the tight spots and only needs to be emptied once per session. I use him daily. I am SERIOUSLY contemplating getting a Scooba to scrub after my Roomba is done vacuuming. I have recommended a Roomba to all my friends and the one's who have seen it in action are quite impressed. I wish the battery charge was a little longer though. Robby is quite capable of getting out of tough spots on carpet or behind furniture and has only tried to go downstairs once-he stopped after one wheel fell and gave the "uh oh" sound. Cute. LOVE THE PRODUCT-PLEASE IMPROVE BATTERY

This is my second Roomba. Had Roomba Discover Series. The battery lasted less than a year and started having problems with it only turning in one direction. I contacted iRobot and tried to resolve problem over the phone but couldn't. Service person recommened that I return to the factory for repair. At this point I had already purchased a new battery ($69.99) and didn't want to go through process of packing and shipping it back which would just have cost more money. Purchased the Roomba 410 (Red) after Christmas 2008. Battery stopped working this week (Jan. 20, 2009). Battery costs $69.99 to replace plus shipping and handling. Love the product but something HAS to be done about battery life. I only use Roomba about once a week. I have no animals or kids to clean up after so it's a fairly easy job for Roomba. Read more

What a wonder for the disabled!

I am disabled and suffer with chronic pain in my spine. I have had so many surgeries, and so many disappointments that I finally came to the realization that there were just some limitations that I had to learn to live with. One of those was running the vacuum cleaner. This may seem like a small feat to some, but when you live with chronic pain, even the smallest tasks can be overwhelming. We also have pets (which are very therapeutic), and also very hairy. We had purchased a very expensive, popular Vacuum cleaner we saw advertised on television, hoping that it would make this chore easier for me.(The model we chose was for households with pets, therefore we did pay more.) The Vacuum cleaner itself was a great product, however, it still took me hours to vacuum the house because I could only do a little bit at a time before having to sit down and wait for the pain to subside before starting again.
