        &lt;p&gt;
        The idea is good, but just about any child can pull it off or simply press on the plastic and still push the buttons on the DVD, opening and closing the DVD tray which of course does not open fully because it makes contact with the in place guard.  Once the child realizes that, he or she simply pulls it off. Decent idea, but not childproof by any means.
