First of all I do like the toy, the problem I have is that I thought it was going to come with all this other stuff like those map sheets and stuff. Instead it came with this "holder" that is made out of a flimsy plastic and looks like the container it came in! Over all it is fun to look at stuff with but I see it being pretty limited in long term play. Also it is a little hard to keep stuff in focus. I think this product should have been listed for about $10-20 not [$]. I paid [$] for it right after Christmas. If you like microscopes but don't like the hassle of sticking things in a slide or under the scope this is a great toy to have. You can lay stuff on the cap of the bug observer or the petrie dishes and it looks really cool. I do recommend this especially if the price goes down. Read more

I purchased this microscope for my 7 yr old daughter. We immediately put it to use with hair, salt, dead spider, and a wing. COOL!! The spider has so many eyes!! I just wish it zoomed smoother when you're holding it. Due to close proximity, it jiggles alot when trying to focus on something when you're holding it. The 400 zoom is hard to get focused at all. My six year old son got this for Christmas this week. We went on a nature walk today and gathered rocks, leaves, grass, bugs, mulch, flowers. We even put a live bee under the scope and could see it breathing. Pretty neat. Other things to look at, your skin, money, hair, freckles, carpet, toys. The list goes on. I agree this is as much fun for adults as children. You do have to hold it very still when viewing but that is kind of common sense with a handheld "microscope." One tip, there is a plastic stand in the package that we almost through out. It holds the eye so you can place objects on top. The focus is a little bit tricky. Read more

Very interesting and user friendly, even for small children! Would like an off switch on the device, not just on the base. Longer leads would be nice. Overall a great product. Read more
